The deployment follows the progressive handover of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) to LRMC and the capacity requirement of the system, with one new Gen-4 train set added to the main line every week until December 2023. Currently, there are twenty 4th Generation train sets already in the Philippines. The remaining 10 train sets are still expected to arrive from Mexico between November 2023 and February 2024 according to LRMC. The complete deployment of the 30 train sets on the main line is slated for Q4 2024, when the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project opens. LRMC has conducted a series of safety checks, inspections, trial runs with minimum kilometers, and acceptance tests since the first Gen-4 train set arrived from Spain and Mexico last January, 2021. The new train sets were manufactured by Mitsubishi Corporation and Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrorcarriles (CAF) of Spain. Adding to the existing three generations of train sets currently running along the main line of LRT-1, each state-of-the-art 4th Generation train set has a total capacity of 1,388 passengers per trip and four light rail vehicles (LRVs) or coaches per train set. Measuring 106 meters in length and 2.59 meters in width, the train set has maximum design speeds of up to 70 kph. Already, 80 LRVs have already been delivered and passed various tests. The DOTr expects delivery of a total of 120 new LRVs that will form 30 train-sets at 4 LRVs per set. Using a longer train set will increase ridership to 300,000 daily passengers up from the existing 280,000 a day. The trains feature destination signs to inform passengers if they are heading north or south. The driver station inside features a modern design, with a monitor that shows the temperature. Sana mangyari, pero sa ngayon di talaga. Kahit may mga bagong linya na ginagawa ang problema ng mga rail lines sa Metro Manila is the simple fact that they are all built over existing roads. Unlike na sa Japan na may mix ng underground, overground, at sa taas ng kalsada.

It will be hard to implement because most rail systems here are owned by different people with different standards. The only way to unify them is through common stations and to start building fresh lines with strict standards on different parts of the Philippines.

It would be so expensive to do that because LRT 1 stations are longer than MRT 3. It's possible to connect the 2 lines but it would require a huge makeover to all MRT stations.

Yes. Very disappointing. This makes the interior look like it was a 90's train. 21st century rolling stocks should have digital and automated PIS and even ambient smart lighting. They maybe planning to install TUBE.

Sana magkaroon mga mga station expansion kagaya sa Dorteo Jose. Kagaya ng paglapad ng platform, may bridge para mag transfer sa kabilaan ng platform. At siguro maganda mabili nila ang lote na katabi ng station para gawing part ng station. Para doon na ang ticket gate, station office and facilities, at mga bakante para ma rent for shops parang mini mall. Para pang dagdag sa revenue ng train operation so no need mag ask pa ng taas pamasahe.

The stations were been renovated from 3-6 years ago, well not a full one unfortunately, some station entrances werent even renovated (cough cough baclaran), once they withdrawn the 1st gen trains, they need to raise the platforms so they would match with the 2nd, 3rd gen and the 4th gen trains

Hopefully they retire the 1st generation trains and the rarely seen 2nd generation once the remaining 4th generation trains arrive. It has been running for almost 40 years. I think it's already fair to say that it's time to phase them out. I also hope to one day see metro systems here follow a time table on when trains will be arriving and leaving a particular station, similar to what is already being done in Japanese metro systems. They even have an app for it. Japanese commuters and even tourists would know when they should be at the station because the time of departure is viewable in the app.

Generation 2 and 3 trains are still good. Kudos sa mga naglilinis ng ating mga trains. Araw-araw yan ang sasakyan ko, napaka dali pumunta sa trabaho at mga malls na gusto ko. Sa LRT 2 maganda rin. Exited na ko makasakay dto sa 4th. Ang ganda talaga sa Metro Manila. Magkakaron na rin kami ng Subway. Kamusta sa Cebu at Davao, kalesa pa rin ba dyan?

LRMC could preserve one set of 1G LRVs. I'd see potential for: 1001, 1038, and 1039. I don't know if 1038 and 1039 was part of the consist from Rizal Day Bombings in 2000. But the latter seem to be in a very good condition unlike most of the 1Gs, in my opinion.

4th gen pero walang station indicator or LED sa taas ng bawat pinto to announce the next station. I hope trial palang yang train at meron ng ganoon sa mga susunod na train hanggang sa fully operational nito. Dahil kung hindi yun kasama sa pag purchase ng train, another gastos na naman.

Na-experience ko narin yung automatic voice announcer pero mahina ngalang then parang twice ko lang narinig lmao. bago nga kaso walang consistent time table unlike sa MRT na every 2-5 mins meron dadating na tren unlike sa lrt 1 minsan every 5 or 10 mins pero usually over 20 mins bago yung next train. Ending edi sardinas din yung loob lol
