Perhaps the most popular feature race category at the Adelaide 500, 'TCM' sees former fan favourites from the Supercars series jump behind the wheel of favourite Aussie Muscle cars like Ford GTs, BOSS Mustangs, Chevie Camaros, Chrysler Chargers, Holden Monaros and Toranas and Porsche 911s. These big machines are the V8s of yesteryear, driven by the gurus of yesteryear. See names like John Bowe, Steven Richards and Steve Johnson among others running these legendary vehicles at the Superloop Adelaide 500.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more Commodores and XD Falcons coming into the series, that's rather the era when I really started paying attention to racing. Loving the Tru-Blu tribute livery on the Johnson car. That Capri Perana is going to be one to watch, and I think it's going to surprise a few people when it has more development under it. Mustang power in a significantly lighter body, there's definitely good potential for a lot of speed there, and track Capris always seemed to be able to be made to handle well, even if the road cars, well, didn't really...

So the blue Falcon they were talking about at the start with the Detroit locker issues, is a 1979 XD Falcon, somewhat similar in shape to your foxbody mustangs, only a 4 door sedan. The valiant pacer, also blue, is very much the sedan version of your Dodge Dart. We used to have great motor racing in Australia, but the direction the main series (known as V8 Supercars, Marcos Ambrose started here!) has gone in, has left many fans looking elsewhere, such as this TCM series! Great cars, great sound, great racing! As opposed to the one team dominated supercar series....

It would be great to see these cars in the original paint jobs as they were off the show room floor. Sponsors on the roof only. Power to weight ratio rules could make for great racing. I agree, not enough about the cars on the race info. Historic group N is very strict on car presentation, maybe there is a format out there for everyone.

TCM is a classic class for hobbyist drivers or owners. Discussion of suspension happens alot but it doesnt get published because its a more casual series.

@Ade Matthews alot of those kind of people just want a series where there isnt any professionalism because professionalism is boring to them. they want the 'cowboy' era of racing back where different groups of people were trying lots of different things because the mechanics were not completely understood. Back when you could just pay to win by buying the best car and driver.

That would be awesome but a lot of these cars wouldn’t last 30 laps. Stricter Homologation rules would have to be placed so it would end up being all similar builds with just different shells. But I’d love to watch it!

Haven't seen this for a while, and when they introduced the Torana without the wheel arch flares, I thought that's fair. Now they have fucked it, as usual. I see the Commodore is allowed large wheel arches as well. Why would you bother with a larger car when you can do a smaller package with the same wheel track and tyre width, these classes always end up fucked up and balanced towards one car, what the fuck is the point. Within 2 years it will be Torana Vs Commodore racing.

TCM spec is a "nominal' its a rules free engine and a great idea for entry level teams. they dont have to develop an engine when an entry level is purchasable off the shelf. Often in series where development or homologation is allowed you have a situation where money wins. Look at WRC or F1. its all about the money. Thats not to say a spec series is free of money buying you wins, but its alot harder to buy a win in a spec series.

TRUTH SEEKER the likes of Bowe and Johnson etc. are all doing exactly that, except the motors are all 40 years old anyway so I don’t see what’s good about that, there’s only like 10 or so guys running the spec motor because they don’t have an extra 200,000 a year allocated to spending on engines, have to remember most of these guys in Touring Car Masters build these cars in their own workshops with a very small team, it’s mostly privateer racing
