Great tips on remembering to check the safe, if you choose to use it! So glad you’ll got those passports back😊 I love the pictures of your family back in the day enjoying the pigeons in the square! It’s so important to have videos and pictures when traveling, great memories! I was in Europe in the early 80’s and again in the early 90’s, and no live footage. Thanks for sharing 🛳🛳

My grandparents got the glasses and jug when they went to Murano. My parents just got the glasses. When I went 20 years ago, I could only afford a small vase. So beautiful though. It has pride of place with my souvenirs.

I was in Italy in 1994 when I was in my 20’s with my parents. The hotels served just dinner rolls for breakfast then. We went to Venice and St. Marks square was under a foot or more of water and there were raised walkways to get over the water. I had the best cup of hot chocolate ever right off the square.

I knew immediately what the emergency was! It’s always been my fear to leave my passport behind, so I carry it with me. I have a crossbody bag with metal mesh inside that can’t be cut, and clip locks on all pockets, and I keep it in front of me with my hand on it. I also keep it in my lap during meals. The shoe idea is fantastic! I’m heading to France and Spain in 2 weeks, and you’re right - WhatsApp is a must, it's how I communicate with everyone I'm visiting.

OMG, what a nightmare the situation with your passports! Happy to hear you were able to get them back. We’ve been to a few big cities in Europe, including Venice, and always carry our passports with us. I have an anti-theft crossbody and I am very aware of my surroundings at all times. I feel the pain on the passports , we were in the line to check in at Istanbul airport for our short flight to Athens when we had that sinking feeling with passports - a stressful couple of phone calls and help from a guy we had brought a small rug from our passports arrived at the airport with 10 minutes before checkin closed - a pretty stressful 70 minutes 😂 - have really enjoyed your journey

My heart would drop of leaving passports. We have a little trick. We leave every drawer, cabinet, safe etc open before we leave a hotel, cruise cabin etc to make sure we don’t leave anything. We have found many times things we would have left if we didn’t do that. So glad you got them back relatively easy.

We left our passports in the cabin of the Disney Magic once. The maid had found it very quickly and we couldn’t get off the ship as security already had a message about our passports. I didn’t know what they were talking about as I was convinced I had packed everything 🤦🏽‍♀️

Here's another possibility for passports. I recently bought passport holders with a slot for an Apple AirTag. If you have an Apple Watch or Smart Phone, it will chime when you get a certain distance away from the device if you set it to do that! A few times I was about a quarter mile away from home and my watch let me know I had become separated from my phone! I made a quick U-Turn and went back to get it! I always put an AirTag in my luggage to track it and even in my Carry on, just in case. I thought maybe I was being too cautious with the passports, but probably not. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if it would work if it was inside the safe, but you could always leave an AirTag near the safe to remind you. I am going to try it inside a safe next trip to see if it still works there. Just an idea!!

My reality check on how expensive Murano glass items are……We toured the Murano factory recently, and when we went into the shop afterwards, we saw a piece that we wanted to buy (a Chanukah menorah,) and was told it was €4,000, but he would sell it to us for €2,000, including shipping. Uhhhhhh, no thanks, a little too pricey for us! But, oh, it was stunning!
