I'm having an open house (or should I say "open garage"?) this weekend and inviting friends and fellow gas pressure appliances collectors to hang out, talk GPA, and see some of my collection. Here's a tour showing some of my favourites.

That’s gorgeous man. Can’t believe you found most all this in the wild. If I lived nearer maybe I’d swing by, but even north Idaho is a bit of a drive. Maybe someday!

Awesome collection Bill! Really appreciate your videos as well, they have helped me tremendously especially your Easi-Lite video as it made working on my own Easi-Lites (321, 331, 621, 222) doable & successful. Was lucky enough to pick up an unfired 1982 621-C after watching your video as well (box included). Anyway thx again for sharing your knowledge & collection.

Awesome collection Bill. You have some killer stoves. I’ve been into the single burners here lately. Coleman’s and the old Optimus stuff. I’ve been restoring an old cabin that sits on a river and every morning I make my coffee on my old Coleman 530 single burner. I call it the dragon. 😂. It’s an A47

Beautiful collection! It’s amazing that you find any of the pre war stuff in the wild. I live in one of the most popular places to camp in the lower 48 and the pre war stuff never appears in the wild.

Great Bill , thank you for taking the time . Wow what a nice collection , love to see all the time and pride put in to this collection . Would want to know more about the 4M series and all the differences . I have a tiny collection of stoves compare to you but still nice , I see a lot of the 4M out there here in Ontario , close to Toronto . I love your vast knowledge of Colmen products and find not very many people care about a product made so well it still works after so many years .

The most noticeable difference is that earlier models have pinlock legs and later ones have bent wire legs. The earliest version (c. 1956) tank is about 3/4" longer than the rest. Auxiliary valve knobs varied between stamped steel and bakelite and there were both stamped and cast manifolds.

Wow what a collection. Here in the UK 282, 285 & 295 are the most common. However I do have a 335 8/71 in green, a 335 2/83 in nickel and a 236 A/38 in nickel. Cheers

@king.coleman 10 ай бұрын
335s and 321s of various flavours are the most common of "vintage" lanterns here, but you can't turn around without stumbling over the post-1989 American exports, usually 286s. As far as I know, Canadian Tire is still selling 286s and WalMart was selling them until they a couple of years ago, when they stopped selling gasoline-powered lanterns and stoves altogether.

Wow, I'm just down island a bit. Just a 220a, 505B, 413F, 426D, and 431 in my collection so far. Plus an Optimus 8R. Looking to get a 4M because it's the defacto Canadian stove. I love the blue easylite lanterns and I just missed one by seconds at a thrift store for 5 bucks a while back. Have a few gas caps that need a reseal but can pick and choose from others when I need, it's not like I need 8 burners at a time. The model 530 is quite a gem. The single burner stoves are probably the most interesting to me personally, though I will be lugging this 426 out to camp in a few days since I always end up sharing the stove, big upgrade from the little 431.

If you've got a 220A, you're doing pretty well as a collector. Those are about as rare as they come for Canadian models. And, yes, the big three burners are nice. I use a 446 on our family camping trips.

@@king.coleman Whoops, just a 200a. I wish it were a 220A! Instead of the most it's about the least collectible. But I don't really care too much about what's technically collectible, just what perks my interest and is a good user. I'm definitely on the lookout for the blue easy-lite's. But I'm just in the first phase of collecting where I can grab whatever model here and there for 15 bucks at most and it'll be a new addition, so that's pretty nice.

Just found your channel sir & an impressive display ! If i was closer i'd for sure stop by . I don't really collect unless it crosses my path , so i have about 4 stoves & 4 lanterns for practical use , nothing overly rare . I've been looking for the tool to get the check valve out , but no luck . I bought the adapter to use the small propane bottle on the stoves , but it will not turn the flame down low enough ( which others say as well ) Anyway , thanks for the tour !!!!! i'll be checking out your other vids now .

Bill, you have a real problem, have you sought counselling? :-)) All joking apart, this is a magnificent collection. I know that you don't often comment on comments, probably due to the sheer volume you must receive but I've got a couple of questions: 1) Do you store your collection wet or dry? 2) If you store it wet do you use a paraffin (kerosene) additive and if so what is it? Thanks again for an insight into how a passionate collector goes about his business. Paul
@king.coleman
@king.coleman 4 ай бұрын
I only burn unleaded gasoline (Coleman Fuel runs around $25/gallon here) and since stale unleaded will leave all sorts of nasty deposits behind, I don't store anything with fuel in it unless I know I'll be using it all within six months.

@@king.coleman Thanks for taking the trouble to answer Bill. You've afforded me some valuable info, as much as what not to do, as to do. I've invested in 3 invaluable tools to help me find out where I have a problem, a USB microscope, endoscope and handheld IR detector, less than $100 for the lot. There's a potential video for you there. "The tools I use" from cleaning, stripping, blasting and painting to useful extras for fault finding. Thanks again for your sympathetic and intelligent insights. Paul

Very impressive display! Do you have any of the inverted "donut" lanterns? Hope you get some visitors. If i was within reasonable driving distance, I'd certainly have stopped in for a few hours.
@king.coleman
@king.coleman 10 ай бұрын
Nope, no inverteds. AGM and Thermos products weren't sold in Canada, so I've never run across one here. It could happen. The LRL-42 turned up just across the Strait in Powell River. Most of my AGM lanterns were traded with another collector in the States, so one of these days I may have to see if he's got an inverted.

@@king.coleman They are a favorite of mine. Unusual, brilliant, shadow free design. They're like no other portable lantern I've ever seen. It's a must have just for the weirdness factor. Haha! But they are great lanterns too. Just make sure to service the fuel/air tube and screen. It basically operates like the plastic Coleman F/A tubes, but upside down. Reproduction globes are finally available now too.

Just found a model no. 1 stove in original condition and all the parts but have no clue on the price. They are asking 300 dollars but cant find any that have sold recently to get a fair market value plus its a couple hrs away. Have you seen any sale recently? Awesome collection btw! Keep up the good content!!
