The most beautiful pass in all of Colorado, Red Mountain Pass. My favorite place to be is Ouray. Take the jeep trip to the top of top of Red Mountain for an awesome experience. My first experience on the Million Dollar Highway was back as far as the 1950's, it was even more beautiful and more dangerous than it is now as the highway was more narrow. My last trip was in 2015, I took my Grandson up to see where his Pappy and I spent so many happy times. I really enjoyed your video, it brought back lots of sweet memories, Thank you,

I'm an old man now but I was born and raised in Colorado. I've lived here all my life and I've never seen all of Colorado I want to see. I love the ocean but I will never leave the mountains. I don't have to tread water here. I lived most of my life in the Sangre de Cristo mountains on the front range but they are shallow compared to the San Juan mountains. At every turn there is a post card vista. I now live in the San Luis Valley which is considered a desert even though the elevation is above 7500 feet and all the front range cities never cease to attempt to get their hands on the water here to feed their never ending desire for growth.

That rooftop terrace was all kinds of beautiful and the idea of doing a burrito in a panini press is genius! It's very cool to learn you've never been into a mine before. I grew up in the North East of England which used to be huge for coal mining so even as a little kid, I'd get taken off to mines you could visit. I agree though the one you chose was a good one as you got so involved in the tour. I liked the guide too - was in bits over the toilet wagon and the idea of some prankster pushing you away! 🤣

Great video, as always - thanks. This episode brought back many memories, as I and a couple friends worked for 6 months in the Idarado Mine spring/summer of 1974. We rented a house in Ouray and rode the company bus each day up to the mine. At that time, I wanted the experience and needed the money. I was on the crew that began our shift where you filmed from the highway and rode the train several miles into the mountain to a point where we then took the lift up to our work level. Yes, at the end of our drift (tunnel) we could look down at the town of Telluride, way below. I'm 75 now, and despite the cold, wet and dangerous working conditions, these Colorado memories are still some of my most cherished and vivid. Life is all about your experiences - let it be.

That mine tour was great especially letting you “use” the equipment. We stopped at the Mayflower Gold Mine located on the main road that you traveled to get to the Hundred Mine. It was all about how they processed what was mined; the docent who was there when we stopped was very informative. In your “mine” they road the train into the mountain, from the Mayflower they rode in buckets a long distance to get to the mountain to the actual mine and then the gold/silver;agate etc was placed in the buckets to get to the mill. What they did back then was amazing; there was no safety council to put limits on them! LOL

Hahah we learned today...oops! 😅 Filming without cell service is tough when we can't google pronunciations!

I've been to Silverton numerous times, but never the mine. Now I need to go again. BTW, how did you manage to film within Silverton when there were NO people in sight??
@AdventuresofAplusK3 жыл бұрын
We highly recommend the mine tour! And we pretty much always start filming at sunrise so we can get good lighting and less people.

I really enjoy your videos, love the style and you guys are basically covering my planned trip through Colorado which I would be on right now if it were not for Covid, and travel restrictions from New Zealand, hopefully can get there next year, at least the delay allows me to add some of the stops you guys have shown

We so hope you can make it soon! And that we can make it your way!

Great video, my wife still get scared thinking about the million dollar hwy.

It's definitely a bit nerve-racking with the drop offs!

My wife and I drove the million dollar mile in a truck and camper when it was snowing and slick. We passed one car that had gone over the side. I was a nervous wreck when we got to Grand Junction.

Absolutely love your videos! Would you happen to remember what time of the year you were in the stretch of Colorado? The temperature and the waterfall runoff looks perfect.

If you haven't already gone there black canyon of the Gunnison and Colorado National Monument are a couple incredible places in that part of Colorado.

I hope you will go to the Silver Jack Reservoir while you are up there. I would love to get your opinion on the drive from Ridgeway to Silver Jack. Is it advisable with a rig like yours? I love your enthusiasm. I'm glad to have found your channel.

Hi! We didn't have a chance to make it there this time. Too many incredible spots, not enough time unfortunately. It looks gorgeous though!

I can say, I’ve driven dozens of mountain passes but I almost died on the million dollar highway. It happened at those S curves you stopped at. I was coming down from the Silverton side in early March just before 9 am. The plow truck hadn’t come through yet. I was only doing 15 mph because it was icy, but I forgot to turn my traction control off and I forgot to put my truck in four wheel drive. I started sliding. Luckily there was about 3 feet of snow piled up because my truck slammed into it sideways. I was stuck, had to shovel the snow around my truck and needed to be towed out but my truck was mere inches from the drop off. The drop off was maybe 20 ft but enough to roll the truck a couple times. Funny thing is, less than 5 minutes after it happened, the plow truck came through making his first pass and completely scrapped the ice off of the road. If I had waited just 5 more minutes before I left, I would’ve been fine…live and learn.

That is super scary! I don't think we'd be up to driving it with ice! We're glad you're ok!

Thanks for the tour of Old Hundred, we've never taken that tour. The river is pronounced Un-Come-Pa-Gray. Have fun in town, it is a wonderful place to visit. Travel Safe. PS... take a jeep tour.

We thankfully learned how to say it before filming the next few videos! Phew! And our next video will include a Jeep 😉

@@AdventuresofAplusK It took me several years to learn how to say it. LOL (And I live in Colorado!) Of the various channels I watch, yours is the best for showing what there is to see when traveling. Although we do more overlanding and off-roading stuff, there is still a need to know what is to be seen in the various areas we pass through. Keep up the good work.

Is there an alternate route where you don’t have to take the Million Dollar Highway? Is there a way that is longer but no steep dropoffs?
