The hate from the good player (TC) and his frustration with not being comfortable and the enjoyment of the hack ( Randy) is the whole point of the loop. And it may be the perfect course in that regard
@theKOOP47733 жыл бұрын
My fellow mid and high cappers, please take note of the teachings of the exalted one Big Randy. There are rare times in life where we, the mid and high cappers, can teach the scratch and single digits something technical about golf. We know and respect the fear of the ever looming chunky ball, followed by the thin screamer, followed by another chunky one. So we are well versed in the ways of the texas wedge, bump and runs, and putting style chips. We do not let vanity cloud our decision making, and chase the beautiful one hop and stop checky chip, for attempting to do so can lead to disaster. Every so often, a course will come around where we are tasked of showing the values of a greenside ground game to the low capper and to convince them of its ugly utility. If we fail to take on this duty, we risk a world of expensive thrown broken wedges, and whiny banter about the flaws of great golf courses. This is our duty, long live (double) bogey golf.

I played in this event with them (not the same pairings). First time I ever played the course (black direction) I shot an effortless 73 2 years prior to this event. This was the 2nd time I've ever seen the black course 1st time I'd ever seen the red course. I shot something like 83 and 85. This event had nothing to do with the normal condition of the course. Greens were wildly fast. Pins were in unreasonably tough positions. Everyone talked to the superintendent at the turn and he was proud of the fact that he set this up as difficultly as he could. I'll never play in that event again, but I'll definitely be going back to the course.

I've played the Loop 3 times and I can't imagine why any golfer wouldn't love the experience. Is it different, yes, is it difficult yes. But It forces you to hit shots that most people aren't used to hitting - which some people find really refreshing - others who don't like variety hate it. If you go there and try to hit Gap/Sand/Lob wedges for your short game shots - this course will kick your butt. You have to play those shots as low to the ground as you're comfortable with. This isn't soft aerial golf - this is firm, fast golf - if you give it a chance, it's really fun.
