The same happened many times with me at Taksim in Istanbul. Random guys would come and say “Pakistan or Hindistan”!? And if I said Hindustan, they say “Delhi or Mumbai”!? Further, “Old or New Delhi” they try to show that they are really friendly with your place and ask you to come with them for drinks, I was smart enough to refuse them all the time. But, I had a female chinese friend, she was approached by a Turkish guy who asked her to come to his place where he has beautiful collection of Turkish souvenirs, and she went with him! When she reached his place, she didn’t see any souvenirs but found the guys uncle at his place who asked her to dance with them. She quickly called us and shared her location (We were 6 friends from different countries staying together in Sultanahmet locality). I and an Egyptian friend quickly went there to rescue her in time. Also, another traveller that i met in Istanbul told me that he was approached by a beautiful Turkish girl at a bar to buy her a drink, when he said no money, she asked him to withdraw from the ATM and he said OK, then went to the ATM together and suddenly 2 big guys joined them and asked him to take all he money he could from the ATM (it was 1 am they were the only ones on that street) and the guy eventually lost around 5,000 USD. Turkey is a beautiful country full of amazing people but there are bad people everywhere in the world, and you would find them in Istanbul mostly if youre in Turkey. Turkey is so good that even after all these experiences, it is still my favourite county out of the 15 that I have travelled!

Thanks Varun your vedio really saved me. I was in Istanbul from 20-22 Dec. On 21st night I was roaming in Takshim square, approached by 2 different guys within 30 mins. They tried to start the conversation by random excuses like asking for a lighter or for some location. Then the same scripted question started like your country, stay in Istanbul etc. I would have fallen for their trap had it not been for your video.

Turkish people like to get your money but they do this with legal way. they want to either sell you something or they want to legally scum you. you will think that are you stupid? what is a legal scam? like these 2 guys were trying to do and will do finally is a legal scam. Look they are just nice with you and they offer you kindly, nobody force you anything, you go, do and get in trap yourself. you get a high bill because it is what is written on the menu but you didnt read it!. This is what happened us in Germany also and we complained to police, they told us, nobody force you and you didnt read it. So what i mean is that you just need to be smart and open-eye. I also went to Istanbul solo last month and I was approached by a guy from Cyprus. He seemed very friendly and asked me to join drink with him around 8pm at Taksim Square. I did not want any trouble even though he seemed to be a very nice person. I told him I was very tired and want to go back to my hotel and sleep. He told me he will wait for me next day same time at Taksim Square. I never went back at 8pm. Thanks god I did not join him. The baldy guy looked very similar to the one who approached me.

This one is one of it's kind, especially the trap sequence. I felt really bad to hear from that guy saying 'Bangladeshi people are poor...' and pointing you as"you are not an Indian". I was like- "are you sick man???" Oh God! I guess he has never been to Bangladesh or India. Being an Indian, at one point I was deeply hurt to hear something about my neighbouring nation from an utterly illiterate and drunk person like that. But, at the same time-"even Bangladeshi people are good." touched me a lot. That's the true traveller spirit in you Varun bhaiya. I guess he messed up with the wrong guy. Also, Varun bhaiya, being a true fan of your videos, please try to keep security measures with you when you visit such places. I was in Istambul on April 2023 and i have met this scammer (minute 17´). He told me the same story. We went to this bar and as soon as i see that he ordered 2 bottle of champaign, i left inmediatly the bar...he stayed alone with the ladys and with his champaign....thank you for sharing this real information !
