I am a resident of Port Moresby City and any other resident or Papua New Guinean who have been to Port Moresby will confess that Gerehu stage 6 is the most dangerous place. Car hijacking, theft, armed robbery, battery, murder, just to name a few, all take place in that suburb. For a tourist to be casually walking around with no police and security escort in those areas is insane! I am stunned that you made that video without getting robbed. You are the bravest man alive to ever take that trip. Respect to the boys, they no doubt are a group of mix gangs or 'tegeras' as we call them.

Ay credit to the boys , they were really genuine and caring towards you. It’s very refreshing to not see my people being portrayed positively they carried themselves beautifully, correct prices, correct change and safeguarding you wherever you went. @@derkonig162 mate the boys made sure it was the original people from the start they never let anybody join the bandwagon, the prices and costs of the things they purchased were the exact prices, they even calculated for him and gave him the exact change, the beers only cost a-bit more than k50 and the k250 he gave to them for escorting him for a tour any amount money can’t buy was out of gratitude. He probably spent only a little over $100usd that day. The hotels give tours but you won’t get the experience he experienced. You’d get to see the safest places in Port Moresby. The reason why he stayed safe is because he was escorted by the boys who mean nothing but trouble any other day of the week. Even we don’t go where he went for safety reasons. But yeah to answer your question, I’m proud of the boys they did well considering they don’t do good very often and only bad news come from my country men. Very refreshing

I (a finnish guy) lived in Port Moresby when I was 13 for about 1,5 years back in the beginning of 2000's. We lived near Gerehu among the locals, not where the western folk usually do. As a caucasian you can imagine I have been on multiple hazardous situations, for example I seeing my dad at gun point fighting three men who were trying to steal our car in the middle of the day. Thankfully nothing irreversible happened that day, it is a very dangerous place to live in. I still have some great memories from that country and it has a special place in my heart always. Funny to see that the streetview is exactly like it was back then and people look the same with their outfits. I still remember the smell of betel nut and the red coloured streets (cause of people spitting out while chewing). It's nice to watch videos like this, since you're really where the locals hang out. Really bringing some memories, thanks for your videos. Mad respect!

Kurt I have been to Port Moresby and the highlands around Garoka and then drove to Lae in the back of a pickup truck in 1996 and trust me mate it was nothing short of a war zone at times! Alcohol is a HUGE problem there. You are a brave man wondering around with these gang members but also very smart! I met some wonderful locals in Rabul and the cultures are amazing, it is the Rascal contingent that makes life difficult for both locals and tourists. Truly one of the most dangerous places I have been in the world and I have been to 54 countries. Was caught in the middle of two 200 person brawls and the police just came in and started beating people with truncheons lol. And the hotel would lock us in after 10pm and disallow any guests from leaving the premises for their safety. But looking back were some great memories of the Ghost Ships in Rabul and the volcano blowing up every 30 mins. Keep the great content coming!

@@hadassahbatchen7680 Honestly I really can't say due to my limited travels there but from what I gather parts around East New Britain and the islands off there tend to be less populated hence less crime. But unfortunately poverty is pervasive. I met some of the most lovely people there from PNG of all economic backgrounds. There is good everywhere and the beauty of the country is spectacular. Rabul due to the WW2 history is amazing if you are a history buff as I am.
