Yes, most ordinary Chinese actually love their homeland, approve of their government, are proud of China and patriotic. This is heartfelt and from the grassroots up, and not brainwashing from the top down. This contradicts the image often portrayed by biased western MSM that Chinese people are oppressed/repressed by their government and yearning for western style freedom and democracy. Couldn’t be further from the truth.

I’ve watched several of these now, and after over a year, (off & on because of health), studying Chinese, getting to know the wonderful people, incredible culture and excitement of everyone for China’s amazing, historic progress; these bring tears to this older Americans eyes! @тнinктanк Quite the same story from your and my grandparents, some tear in my eyes while typing these words, thinking about their miserable lives in their beloved motherland. They had to migrate or would starve to death. Yes, in the past, my parents had mentioned about hokkiens they knew, speaking almost the same dialects. We are not so confused as your family because we are all Teochews. As you know most Chinese in Thailand, except for its southern region, are Teochews. Yes, I am also proud of China being a great nation now. It proves to the world that we have achieved a miraculous success that has never happened in the history of mankind before, especially to those western countries that treated us very bad in their imperial era. Nowadays, the west have to turn their eyes to China with a respect and in a humble manner, sometime with fear if they are fair enough. I love the way President Xi Jinping has been performing on the world stage, insisting on mutual benefit and shared future to the rest of the world. He is a very respectable world leader compared to his counterparts. I am sure most Chinese are proud of him. I am very delighted to talk to you like this.
