They do look particularly magnificent in Summer uniform don't they? The blue very much sets them apart from all of the other Guards Regiments both Cavalry and Foot.

Greetings from the land of Rodeo , native Americans, and cowboy churches. Question, on discounts they slap loudly on the right side of the horses tack. Why is that ?

They pat horse's to say job done, then slap the saddle to let the horse know they changing weight. It sounds loud because it echoes off the walls in the enclosed area.

Although they're job appears to be only ceremonial it is not. They are soldiers. They're horses are soldiers as well. Be a good tourist and always treat them with respect.
