One of my favorite tracks! Long Live to Tourniquet!

I vividly remember when this album was released and I heard this and "The Hand Trembler" and was blown away. This "greatest hits" album followed Vanishing Lessons and Carry the Wounded, and I (and probably everyone else) thought that this signified a new return-to-thrash sound for the band. Then I saw them live in 1997 and got a pre-release version of the Crawl to China CD. I have to admit I was somewhat disappointed at first as there was no thrash (maybe Tire Kicking), but it still turned out to be a really good, solid, unique album that I continue to listen to to this day. Fast forward to 1998, the song "Trivilaizing.." appeared at the end of the Acoustic Archives album. Talk about irony, this was perhaps the heaviest, darkest sounding song the band had ever released and it was at the end of an acoustic album. I have to admit, I was skeptical that it was a sign of heavier music to come and just assumed it would be another one-off. Then two years later the masterpiece "Microscopic View..." was unleashed on the world. What a band, what a history. I love all incarnations of the band and all albums, but I have to admit I have lost touch since Luke left the band. The new album with Ripper is good. Perhaps great, but it still leaves an empty feeling knowing it is no longer a "band", but a Ted solo project featuring Aaron and other guest musicians. That said, I will continue to buy and listen to all Tourniquet-related music, including "Tourniquet" releases and absolutely anything and everything from Luke Easter, Gary Lenaire, and Guy Ritter on vocals.

I consider myself a true Tourniquet fan regardless of the fading members. But I cannot help thinking •what happened?!” when I hear the magic that was orchestrated, like in this masterpiece and then on the other hand, the convoluted messages manifesting themselves in the music throughout the years without interpretation from the creators. Luke singing (supposedly about Guy Ritter in WMRD) and now Luke singing with former member Gary in “Vainglorious Hypocrisy”. Some closure or at least reconciliation/forgiveness would be appropriate for the One that we all ultimately represent.

Jared Opoka doyou know why Luke left the band?
@Jpoke17255 жыл бұрын
I believe the formal announcement said it was a “mutual” separation. But contrary to the statement, Luke released “Vainglorious Hypocrisy” which had blatant indications and his social media quote stated (last I checked) “Not Mutual”. It could be said that I am merely trivializing the momentus and complicating the obvious.

Jared Opoka hmm interesting. Shame he isn’t around anymore but Tim Ripper Owens did a good job on vocals. Also nice reference

Levity keeps me unbiased. I am a huge Ted fan and I agreed, Tim did a great job. Would have loved to see Castronovo complete the entire record though. I know that this subject concerning former band members has been a sensitive subject but was hoping that provoking playfully without any intended disrespect might have invoked a response from Ted- publicly or privately

Jared Opoka indeed I honestly would like to hear the various reasons behind the leaving of the different members throughout the years. I think Aaron left for personal reasons and then rejoined later on.

I'm here because of A Charlie Brown Heavy Metal Christmas. Shroder, pig pen and snoopy fuckin' killin it. The song is pretty tight for a Christian Metal band. I dig it.

Grognak The Destroyer the band lineup at the point of this album’s release would have been Luke Easter: Vocals Aaron Guerra: Guitar and vocals Forget the bassist’s name but it may have been Steve Andino or something Ted Kirkpatrick: Drums and various other in studio instruments.

@@thestørmcrier2024 Incorrect. The lead vocals in this song are by Gary Lenaire and Luke Easter. Aaron Guerra doesn't sing in the two new songs this compilation album has, but Luke Easter shares vocals with Gary. This album is the last one with Gary Lenaire and Victor Macias. The lineup in this album is this: Luke Easter: Vocals Gary Lenaire: Guitar and vocals Aaron Guerra: Guitar Victor Macias: Bass Ted Kirkpatrick: Drums.

"Enter the mind of a man torn in two" - that's Luke. "One of the twelve, but is destined to do" - that's Gary. "What the black heart of a person can feel" - that's Luke. "When he follows what he sees to be real" - that's Gary. Aaron could be part of some "gang vocals" parts where they all shout together (and could be one of the people who says "to thine own self be true"), but the vocals are shared by Luke and Gary. Usually they trade-off the vocals and at some points they sing together.
