She has that reputation because she has many performances were badly sung and were plain uncomfortable. I love her music but I can't deny the fact that she seems to have more fun at parties than actually working on her vocal technique. Sure she has a great and unique tone but due to what she's doing she'll lose it quickly and no amount of autotune will hide it.
