Also, those waves aren't even that big, not that I have the balls to surf that wave even with a jetski towing me in. At pipeline people routinely surf waves just as big as those with much more power without the aid of jetskis

You can analyse how serious the surf is, by watching the surfers. Here you see them not too worried about getting smashed, but at the other more dangerous breaks, they truly respect the waves, you can see this in their body language
