@@karl5064 Doing reserach for chairs is very time consuming if you do want to try getting a chair that works for you for less. Research can only do so much too so unless you are some chair reviewer or some store that will literally let you use them as a cafe for days, so going for some brand that is known to make very good ergonomic chairs that last 20+ years is your only real option. For people who do need a good chair, this is what they have to do but also there are many people who can just use cheaper chairs and not have any problems whatsoever (not Suisei apparently). Bigger brands can also have group buys so that's one way to get those chairs for cheaper.

@@karl5064 Its true that you don't necessary need the most expensive herman miller, but a decently good office chair do cost 400+ and the price only goes up for more adjustability and build quality. and I am speaking from experience working in furniture selling company as well as being a digital artist that have to sit for quite some long time. Really recommend people investing in a good quality chair instead of getting all kinds of back / shoulder pain from a poorly made one.

The phrasing is improper imo. If a brand that would not sponsor vtubers in the first place on their own, suddenly hear about them thanks to a brief livestream mentions, then management can reach these companies, show them the potential and positive initial reception, and get a promo deal rolling (with a limited edition with some holo stuff printed on it for example). It even worked with games that were more likely to sign a deal (than a B2B ergonomic chair company): after some talents mentioned certain games on stream or on twitter, the devs got a sudden spike of interest for their games, looked up these "vtubers" and eventually signed sponsored streams with them. The issue is not with mentioning products "for free", it's about the competition: if Hololive talents speak highly of a certain product, then their competitors are less likely to sign a deal for sponsorship with them, since the core fans will immediately compare it with the previously-praised one, and some viewers will then ask the talents on which one they prefer, and it will be difficult for the talents to convince their audience that the sponsored one is worth their attention too. For example, if Towa speaks regularly about how great are the Herman Millers, worth every penny, etc - then there's less incentive for a regular gaming chair company to hire her: she won't be able to easily convince her audience that $150 is enough for a chair, when she's seating in her $1500 HM Aeron. But if a manufacturer starts going with the "ergonomic chair but affordable" at $500-$700, and they're confident in their products, they might give it a shot: if Towa's viewers now care about their chair, but obviously won't put $1.5k for it, then Towa might have created an opportunity for such sponsorship.

As for praising HM, it's far from a significant issue, as long as she doesn't diss the regular "gaming chairs" as being back-breaking: since the Aerons are priced at $1.5k, they don't really compete with the $200-$300 ones. It's like a youtube channel about cars, with them talking about their Porsche or Lambo: it won't stop sponsorships by the mass manufacturers who want to reach their large audience. Still, the general policy is to not mention brands to avoid any unplanned missteps, to only have "calculated" name drops.

High end task chairs are literally designed for sitting in front of a computer for 8+ hours a day, totally worth the money if that is what you do for a living. And they all should have slidable seats so the backrest can be set closer to the front for smaller people.

Great chairs are actually worth the price - really mitigates the lower back issues and they are really built to last a long time. I'd recommend trying them before buying. I use a steelcase gesture and it has made a world of difference. Herman miller aerons are great as well.

As someone whose back problems got so bad I could barely sit at my desk for more than 30min without being in excruciating pain partly because of my chair, I highly recommend everyone, if you can, buy a high end chair from a brand like Herman Miller or Steelcase, get a footrest if applicable, fix your posture, and adjust your recline angle occasionally. Your back will thank you, especially if you spend long hours at your desk. Do your research and weigh the benefits of every chair. I was originally going to buy a HM Aeron, but the Aeron doesn't have adjustable seat depth so I went with the Steelcase Leap V2. HM Embody seems great too. They're not just a gimmick for rich people. Lots of people buy these chairs used or refurbished for a fraction of the retail price (I bought refurbished with added seat foam and a 12 year warranty, $570).

I own a Herman Miller and it's the best chair I've had. Sitting in it for 16+ hours which is really bad but I got no pains anywhere. "gaming" chairs are not chairs, they're fricking tormenting devices. It's true about the depth of the seat on those, put my sister in it, she was like a doll, she's like 150cm tall. You're much better off by getting a car seat. One of my net cafés had every pc paired with a car seat. Very nice.

Upfront costs for proper ergonomic furniture is a definite hard pill to swallow but the other way to look at it is: $1000 for a nice chair today? Or a lifetime of back pain, general misery, possible chiropractor and physical therapy costs later. That and repetitive strain injuries (RSI) isnt something to take lightly. Carpal really sucks. While an ergonomic chair is certainly better than gimmick gaming chairs, the best thing you can do for your back and other parts is unironically get into the gym and lift weights. A mix of back squats, bent-over barbell rows, and deadlifts throughout the week will strengthen the lower back muscles over time and promote core strength for maintaining good posture throughout the day. Curls will help strengthen your wrists, and bench presses will strengthen a lot of the muscles in your arms. Lifting weights is not just for getting strong or building muscle, but rather a way to strengthen essential parts of your body in ways that will improve your day-to-day life. I had a good ol leather chair that squeaked a ton but it was so comfortably, but it was like 15 years old and I needed a new chair.. I bought one of those "gaming chairs" the one with the pillow and massage pillow, and they SUCK!!! They are so terrible, they only look cool, but they are so uncomfortably, the pillow in the weigh, I can't use the backrest, my butt hurts if I sit too long, the seat's too narrow cause of those slants I'm 6 foot 3 inches, (that's about 190 cm) and my feet do not reach the floor, it's either the back rest or the floor, and if I lower the chair to have my feet touch the floor and the backrest I can't reach my desk.. AND if I even do all that I have to scoot my chair up so far the armrests get in the way of the desk, so I would have to play 5 inches low and a foot and a half back.. etc etc.. I really wish I just went into a furniture shop and tried sitting in and bought a regular computer chair.. those "Gaming Chairs" are just a scam.. hahahaha damn I got screwed.. -__-

Honestly it kinda seems like gaming chairs are just a fad, like word of mouth makes them seem cool even though they're not. iirc Calli had one but it was killer on her back, so she just got a good office chair and helped so much better.
