Anyone know where I could find some information on how to get the right soldiers the right level. I mean how can I be sure it's not me and the soldiers that suck.

Hello. How to upgrade soldiers without tokens?

you earn them when you win a soldier or tank that you already own.

You need to summin units using gems (which can be earned from missions, pvp, etc), and get a duplicate unit to get a token. For example if you get a duplicate green unit, you’ll get a green token
