I really like this motor but the difference in fuel cost, 3.50 for reg and 5.18 for diesel kind of makes it a wash with the 5.3. So why pay the extra money for the truck and maintenance cost of the diesel ?
@Pickuptrucktalk2 жыл бұрын
It has a better torque curve producing a more fun driving experience, quicker off the line and a better towing rig.

@@Pickuptrucktalk Saw your new video kind of based on my question as well as a few others. Thanks for that, what a great in depth video that was. Based on your new video I may be leaning toward the 4 cyl turbo for a company truck. it will 95% be used on hwy hardly ever towing. I'm going to go test drive that and the 3.0 diesel this week.

So I know you hate the GM seats , but I sat in the GM, Ford, RAM, Toyota and Nissan at the Chicago auto show and it seemed like Ford and GM had the hardest seats , Toyota and Nissan was decent and Ram was the most comfortable to me. I have a 2014 Sierra and they seems fine to me, seems like they need to soften the newer ones up and get rid of the AFM in the gas engines and they would be a decent truck again. But definitely like the 3.0 duramax other then that stupid belt they put on oil pump.
@eddyhughes37352 жыл бұрын
I heard you say 1000.00 to inspect the belt,a Chevy dealer quoted me 2750.00, I don't own a truck but plan to purchase one later, was that a dealership that said 1000.00?

That price comes from the comments on the other video.

Couple time books show this service from 7.3-12hrs. Parts around $200 if you decide to change a cover plate that has sealant all over the backside or. Pay extra for the tech to clean the surface.

Tim great review sir! Last year i leased a 2021 GMC crew cab four wheel drive with the 3.0 diesel. In winter of 2020 a local dealer was selling mid grade trucks like mine for $47 to $48k and lease about $450 for 15k miles per year. So I leased one. Powertrain was incredible and my friends loved driving it. It had a 1750 pound payload and that fancy tailgate. I had gravel and mulch get into tailgate hinge areas so i hated that multi pro tailgate. I also didn't care for the poor handling in corners....too soft. And i was stupid in that i needed a 6.5 foot bed and this one had the 5 8 bed. I sold the lease earlier this year. If i ordered a 2022 i would get the max tow package which gives you 3.73 axles, another spring and heavier rear axle casting and gearset. Unfortunately the 2022s are much more expensive and they put in a console shift which i hate! Might have to go hd!

@Pickuptrucktalk2 жыл бұрын
@@jttribe7683 I’d say you are right at the limit of this truck. The 830 lbs of hitch weight isn’t going to leave a lot for passengers and it is pretty long meaning more for the wind to push around. It will come down to how confident you are towing.

If the new gen gm trucks is like the last gen gm trucks, driving in auto 4wd is like driving with the hubs locked, which lessens mpg’s slightly. Now a question, gm says they are going full electric in 2025. Does that mean the electric avalanche will be their only entry in the 1/2 ton truck market in 2025?
