A way to claim Jailor is if you're on the stand and all your need to stall for is a single day. The real jailor will exe you, but the single day needed to kill at night is finished.

When being the RM for instance, you can claim to be the killer so the jailor will get you, but not the actual killer, so you can still kill at night.

Miss Medi lol'ed at the vh claim. Before the investigative changes I always used to claim vh and say there were vamps if I happened to roll GF. It "confirmed" me quite a few times, and made for some hilarious revelations at the end of the game.

Hehe one time I was Coven leader and I decided to claim escort to see how it went. Then day 2 there were no medusa kills so someone said "escort whoever you roleblocked is medusa" so I took advantage of the situation and randomly chose someone who I fake role blocked. They didn't even say anything as they were being lynched. I just had a lot of luck that game I guess. Coven won, too, and with all my witches alive and well :)

Haha nice! Escort is one of those 'easily confirmable' roles, so if you can convince town some way that your Escort, you have a good shot at winning. For this reason, its also a good role to claim as a Jester.

I feel like its worth talking about the 4 new town roles and claiming them as evil roles, specifically Mafia/Coven. I've claimed all of them before as TRAPPER: This claim can be rather suspicious, since your not expected to say who your traps are on so they still stay in affect, and while as a Trapper this may be useful to get a kill down after you die, when claiming Trapper, this makes it hard to believe. Something I like to do when claiming Trapper is to find a confirmed visit, and use that to say that that person broke your trap. For example, a Sheriff is put up onto the stand, and posts there will, saying that they visited John Willard Night 3. In your will, you can use this info, saying that the Sheriff triggered your trap. This could also be used to 'fake' confirm your Mafia/Coven friends, but that could be tricky when town finds out you were lying. Overall, I find this a very good role to claim. PSYCHIC: Psychic claims are very skeptical by town, however its easy to fake. 3 people have to be evil, and if anybody you choose happens to be evil, then your in a good spot- not confirmed though, people are always reminded of that, you have to keep saying information to keep people from suspecting you again. This is claim you have to claim Day 2. Claim it any later, and you won't be surviving long most likley. I find this a very good claim because it takes a while for town to relise your lying, and this could stall the game enough for your team to have majority. I wouldn't push too much on your results though, this makes you really suspicious. I also wouldn't put your own team in the first good results to try to make them "inno" or even in the bad results to try to bus and make yourself look inno during the first few nights- later on in the game it could help a lot, however its hard for a Psychic to defend a fellow Mafia/Coven, your results are just people who COULD be guilty or inno, not will be. CRUSADER: Crusader claims have one key flaw. If somebody else visited the target you "protected" last night, your busted. Claiming Crusader can be a risky thing to do, but as a TP, like Medi said in the video, you may be able to stay alive. However, you have problems such as if a Jailor or Mayor has came out- if you say you protected them, another Crusader or a BG may come out saying they protected them saying your lying. If you say you didn't protect them, it looks very suspicious. Despite this, claiming Crusader as an Ambusher, or as a Mafia member where the Mafia has an Ambusher can be very good. If the Ambusher dosen't get any kills, you know that the player they visited wasn't visited most likley, therefor, you can't be outed for somebody visiting your target and not dying. This only works if the Ambusher dosen't get any kills though. Crusader can work as a claim, but you have to be smart about it. TRACKER: I don't like claiming Tracker. The thing is, Tracker sees who there target visits, and this can easily be confirmed/denied. Tracker can be a good claim if you can 'confirm' yourself, use the wills of dead people and when people claim as well as logic to work this out. You can play this like a Lookout in many ways, asking people "Did something happen to you last night?" since you can get away with that question without a reason for asking most times. Its claim you can definitely make work, I just have a hard time doing this claim. Also, you could claim GA, and your targeted died early on, preferably just Night 1. However, many times, Vigs like to shoot Survivors, Jailors may jail them, town may just lynch them, or if your playing Mafia VS Coven of some sort, the other team may kill you. Its a risky strategy but can be done.

Alright, So, storytime... Today, I started trying to play ranked. I got Blackmailer... So I waited to listen to whispers, but of course, no one whispers. I intended to claim spy if eventually asked, so I started building my will. BUT 1. I've never been spy. 2. I am not 100% on how spy works. So it was kind of difficult and I kind of gave up. Spy comes out, He blames one guy. And they vote him up. But they inno and I say 'don't random lynch.' That happens a second time with someone else. And on the 3rd trial in the day they somehow random vote one of my mafia and it goes through. Fast forward, 2/4 mafia die in the first, what, 3 days? So I continue to listen in on no whispers... Day 3/4 Mayor reveals, and turns out, the spy tried to push him up back when they were trying to random lynch. So I decide at night to bm someone who keeps talking, just in case. Because he has yet to actually claim. That guy ends up being lynched. We get down to the little bit, we have jailor, mayor and spy, along with me and the other mafia. Spy starts pushing me up and I said he was random lynching like he did mayor. So mayor lets it slide and jailor jails me, clicks 'exe'. I quickly say (because I gave up on my fake will) 'Yo, I'm spy. Fake spy got lucky. You need to lynch him! He tried to lynch mayor day 2 and it fell through so he lynched one of his buddies.' No will or anything, I must've sounded desprite. He unclicked. BUT my mafia buddy killed Jailor while I was jailed. Next morning, I quickly say 'jailed last night. I'm spy.' The spy calls me out. I tell mayor about the random vote up on him. So mayor votes up spy AND guilties him. So then of course, we kill mayor at night. Pretty lit. lol

This is an Arsonist strategy I would recommend the next time you're playing the hardest role in the game. Even if you don't act like exe/sheriff and claim something else, 2-4 are good tips. It's worked for me. 1) [Act like a executioner/sheriff] You still want to go with a early mafia accusation but do it in a way that makes it seem like you are actually sheriff and you won't be killed but with enough doubt where the mafia aren't sure whether or not to attack you. Bad mafia will be quiet and be the first to vote your early accusation. You should also try to keep the town from voting the real mafia up; you need them. Best case scenario, you get a townie killed and you say "Thanks for the win" and you're ignored the rest of the game. 2) [Doused mafia first then town unlikely to be targeted] The worst thing that can happen to an arso is the people they've doused die, typically to mafia if you aren't smart about who you douse. Doused mafia and town mafia and town aren't going to kill prevents this. Mafia will kill the town for you. Once they've done that, you kill then and win. 3) [Know what your win conditions are] For me their are two kinds of Win Conditions, mechanical and psychological. Mechanical Win Conditions are when the game gives you the win. Mechanical Win Conditions include: Last one alive, you and NB/NE/Pirate who won already are alive, and you and one other person who isn't trans, jailor, vet, or any Neutral Chaos. A Psychological Win Condition is when the town or NE/NB/Victorious Pirate decide to help you win over mafia/coven. Typically people given the arso the win since it had the lowest win percentage in the game. 4) [Ignite Once] When you ignite you aren't dousing. Additionally, igniting people puts the arso back in the mind of the town, you don't want that. Your one ignition needs to put you into the of the Win Conditions from #3. Doing this as worked for me but any number of things can go wrong. This isn't a guaranteed strategy and the tips won't guarantee your victory.

My best game I've ever played was when i was Medusa. I screwed up in jail and accidentally tried to say something to my coven members, but I was in jail, and they decided to execute me. It turns out that I had stoned a GA, and they protected me that night. I asked in the day chat, I said who is GA, then realized that I had stoned to GA. The other two players left were Jailer and sk. Jailor jailed the SK, and I stoned the Jailor, winning the game for my coven. It is actually on one of wahooz videos

Small note to tip 9. If you're evil and silent, you for damn sure better have a good reason. Claim that you're TP and you were trying to stay under mafia/Coven's radar. Anything! Just have your lies -- I mean justification ready. Also, the only time I'd even attempt to claim jailor is if I'm a Jester in a mafia game. I'd immediately come out as jailor and say that the dead one is disguiser. Still a ballsy play, and it's not likely to work (trust me, I've played roughly 2.5k games) but it's a last YOLO effort.

I love Janitor so much because you can use info from the one's you cleaned. For example in Skimm's triple trans video, I cleaned 2 invests, gaining their info, and told my maf buds what I was claiming. EDIT: Also about the Mayor thing, one time I was disguiser and I panicked and claimed Mayor in jail. Noone told me to reveal. Good thing we had a witch in game cuz it was like the "Invest" was passing info to the "Mayor" Me: I'M SO DEAD I CLAIMED MAYOR!! WHY DID I CLAIM THAT?! Also about the whispering thing. Some people still believe whispering is suspicious....there are many reasons why someone could be whispering and just saying "whispering is suspicious vote them up" is not enough evidence.

The only problem with claiming mayor in jail is that the jailer would automatically tell you to reveal the next day and when you don't they would immediately jail and execute you. Unless you make a really big thing of not being able to be healed when revealed to them and that's why you don't want to do it yet.

My favorite strategy as Jester is to claim vamp hunter D1. I find it to be a really fun one because normally Maf won't kill you, Town will trust you, and most people will immediately start worrying about vamps rather than you. Just start to act sus mid-late game and you're set. Another one is to try and lynch someone early acting like an exe. If the vote succeeds, tell the town you're exe and that was your target. No one will want to waste a kill on you, but they might want to lynch in case you swap evil last minute. Done both of these and they're really fun.

You can claim Jailor when you know who he is and he's cleaned. Consig or PM could invest them and then Medusa or Janitor can clean. It's a pretty good claim unless you're in a high ELO town which can figure out that nobody has been jailed in the past few days and that there are also cleaned roles in the graveyard.

My tip: If you get on the stand, try to push the blame on someone else the stand. (If you are mafia and you know the neutral killing, call them out!) Once, a mafioso claimed Jailor, (the Mafia cleaned the jailor) got the godfather lynched so we all would trust him. Then started lynching town. Mafia won.

Nah for real, Town of Salem is deceptively simple. And deceptively complex. Simultaneously. There are five things you need to understand to play the game well. Three are purely based on knowledge and probabilities, one is based purely on an understanding of basic human psychology, and one is a mix of the both, which is the trickiest. 1. You NEED to know what potential investigator results are. I'd say this is, debateably the most important thing to learn, and debateably the most important thing to understand conceptually. Go to the wiki, and memorize the **** out of what the investigator results are. You absolutely need to know this to analyze actual investigator results, to fake being an investigator, to determine who is a fake investigator, and how to claim/counterclaim false roles. 2. You also *need* to know which roles fall under which classification, by which I mean which roles are considered Town Protective, which are Town Investigative, which are Town Support, which neutrals fall under which neutral sub-category, etc. Since the role list changes, you have no idea how many times I've seen people try to claim Survivor, only to be immediately killed. Why? Because Survivor is a Neutral Benign role. In the recent changes to ranked practice, both the neutral Benign roles and the "Any" roles have been removed, making Survivor a literally impossible claim. If you don't understand which roles fall under which classification, you will likely screw yourself by making impossible false claims. 3. Basic understanding of mathematical probabilities. By which I mean, you *NEED* to read the wiki and know tips #1 and #2 by heart. Once you know which roles fall under which category, you can use the confirmed roles presented by the dead and the currently claimed roles to know what the odds are of other roles being possible/probable by consulting the role list for that particular game/match. If there are two town investigative slots in the game, two random town slots in the game, and one "Any" slot in the game ( just as an example), and there are three dead town investigative roles confirmed in the graveyard, you need to understand that means if you claim a TI slot, it means you have to be the random town or Any slot. You also need to realize how slim a probability there is of one of the RT or Any slots *being* that, and the ability to recognize if the "Any" slot has already been confirmed taken by a role that could not otherwise appear unless it used up the "Random Town" or "Any" slot, like if there are Vampires in your game, or if there's only one designated town protective role but two town protective roles in the graveyard. The less probable it is that your role fits into the list mathematically, the more people are going to be suspicious of it. 4. Know what the town needs/values, and would be afraid to sacrifice/risk. This video covers that pretty nicely already, I don't feel the need to elaborate much, but you need to be able to understand what roles that not only *are* believable but that people will *want* to believe are true, to the point of them taking risks on you to protect you. 5. Understand how the endgame will be most likely to play-out if your false role claim is believed through the early-mid game, and pay close to attention to what happens in the meanwhile. Making a believable claim early won't do you much good if that claim becomes a liability/"acceptable collateral damage"/high priority target in the end game. This one is the hardest, IMO, because it requires the rational/analytical skills to realize what's believable early on, the ability to know people well enough to both trick them and make them value you in the mid-game, and the ability to recognize the end-game scenario you need to actually achieve victory. Understanding this is to understand when you need to claim your previous role was a false claim, to be able to give a reasonable explanation as to why you falsely claimed prior, and the ability to divert attention/blame in directions away from yourself in a believable way. Compared to Miss Medi here, I am still a newb to this game, but I am well versed in games of chances, strategy, probability, and manipulation. I can honestly say I have not mastered step 5 yet, I literally have less than 10% of her game experience in Town of Salem, and she's better at it than I am. At the very least in the moment, and perhaps just flat-out overall, I can't say for certain yet. At the same time, I doubt for a second she'd argue anything I just said.

Summary: - Claim a role, probably under investigative results. Mafioso claims: Vigilant or Veteran Serial Killer: Doctor (TI -> TK if one TI dies) - Don't claim teammate's role/alignment. It's best to claim roles that you could confirm your mates with. If none, try not to make your ally suspicious. - Good / Bad Claims scummiest claims: anything that isn't town (aka neutrals or n/evil) ~~~not town, med, sheriff, vig, spy

One of my favorite roles is a jester or Exe turn jest. The reason for this is because it is waaaay too easy. A strategy I use is buy a jester scroll or two and then name myself "T H O T" or anything related to "Team 10" (Jake Paul, Erica Costell, Jake Pauler, Logang... etc) in-game. Of course you would have to roll jester tho if you want it to work.However if you don't roll jester.. Good luck convincing town u are a townie... ur gunna get lynched either way. When the game starts be as quiet as possible so people don't notice you. You might get called out D1 because of you're name and then killed by mafia or coven N1. If you do, repeat the whole process, it doesn't take a long time so don't worry. When you survive N1, D2 is going to start and then you can claim "TK" otherwise knows as town killing (Vigilante, Veteran... etc.). Someone is going to *HAVE* to cc that (Counter Claim). When they cc that, There is two possibilities. You are either getting lynched because of you're name. Or because someone cc'd you're claim.

Tip 11: If people who were in a previous game, and they are in your current game, persuade them to vote up the wrong people. One time, I had guy a who wasn't on my team, but he was in my previous game. I was godfather and the only one left. I got the guy to put up to the stand the last person to ever defile me, and then i killed the person the following night. It is INSANE the people who believe you, just because you were in their last game!

When you're consiglier, find out who's invest, kill invest, and then claim invest. Check on wiki on the role invest, then you can see the things like : Sky's Pov *writes in will* sky the invest( consig) Sky invests Istickforksintrees It shows up us vet. *looks up in wiki and searches where the vet option is* *writes vet/vig/gf* ============================ So that's it, just invest some1 get their role, check wiki to get the options, and boom solid will!

Basically, consider how you tend to play as a townie (even better: a specific town role you're planning to imitate), and imitate that behavior as much as possible without giving up info that will actually assist the town in finding your fellow mafia. Also, support false accusations, or at least don't try to combat them until a majority of the town already comes to a consensus that the accused is innocent. The town hanging another townie is the single best case scenario for the mafia (I would argue this event is as good as, if not better than, a vigilante shooting another townie.

I haven't actually played all that much, but in classic/ranked practise, I find that it can be fun to claim Medium, as, unless there's another medium out there, nobody can prove you guilty except for certain investigative roles. I have won several matches as GF this way without a single member of mafia dying. -Funny132, a person who once got Consigliere, somehow forgot that Consigliere is an evil role, got it mixed up with Vigilante, claimed Consigliere in their last will, and put on the surprised pikachu face on death. (I died by execution from a Jailor because I posted my will to them when they didn't ask for my role ;-; Edit: 4:40 I once claimed Amnesiac and survived that way all the way until the end of the game on night 7. On day 5, Mayor revealed himself. On night 5, I tried to remember Doc, but doc can't heal revealed mayor, so I was just being dumb. On day 6, enough people had died that it was just me, the mayor, and 2 mafia. Mayor and I killed a mafia, and I was told by the other Mafia "You better use your self-heal cause I'm coming for you" so I did use my self heal on night 6. As it turns out, they went for the Mayor. I made a funny comment about standing strong in my will and was killed the next day. That was a fun match.

TIP 11 Support your mafia pals role claims when 4v3 or even 5v3. Most maf dont do this because once their friend gets lyched they are sus, but putting in a bit of evidence that strengthens their claim can save your pal and win you the game next day. If both of the other members do it it can be a powerful play, theres always some undecided townies who dont know who to trust.

I am personally a fan of having one of your mafia claim that you attacked them but they got saved by someone else strategy. If pulled off correctly it basically gives that member of the mafia immunity for a little while until the town figures out that it was all a ruse. Yes you have to die in order to 'prove' them innocent, but I love that risk vs reward.

One strategy that honestly works far too well as SK is writing a Death Note like you would a Will for anyone else. Let's say you're an SK named Killer. Make your Death Note look something like this: Killer the SK N1- Killed John Proctor N2- Spread Butter across my toast with my knife N3- Dangit Deodat Lawson was jailed I couldn't kill them N4- Not so safe tonight Deodat Etc. Also do your best to ham it up in the chat, telling people you're SK and shouting at anyone who says SK is someone else. The best thing to do is claim SK to a Jailor after they've used their Exec because they'll put it in their will. It works for reasons unknown. I'd think they're afraid of Jester, but I've had games where Jester died N1 and people were still hesitant to vote me up. Most of the time they kinda just ignore me.

If you have all three Mafia members still alive, claim med. tell one person to whisper a passcode to the other next day, and tell you what it is at night. Sacrifice a mafia during day, tell the pass 'from the dead' next day, and boom, confirmed med. Now you can implicate whoever you want and the real med can't do squat.

these tips work!!!! i suck at evil roles and i just got GF. our mafia was GF, mafioso, consort, and janitor. one of my maf came out as a bad sheriff and said that i was GF cause he invested me. i claimed doc cause i knew it was an arso game and BG would look hella sus and pushed him as exe. he didnt get up on the stand and it was good. somehow he didnt get jailed or lynched later but we killed and cleaned ret n1 so it was greaaat! and jailor executed a transporter so we were mostly safe. we lynched a guy who claimed surv with no NB or any spot. jester was dead and they turned out to be arso! so we kept killing and cleaning, and roleblocking when we had to. we communicated with each other about our claims and we ended up winning!! we only lost our mafioso from a BG but i told the medium i would protect them and told.mafia not to attack them.. you know what you're talking about medi

I do all of these but 10. Adding on to number 9, some easy things to say are oof of F if a town dies, gj if a vig or jailor kills an evil, randomly quote a meme, or be the first to ask for role and will when a TI gets a lead or someone is voted up to the stand. Another good tip is to act like a jester on the stand: straight up claim jester, claim to be an evil or role not in the game, insult people.

I had a pretty good serial killer game once. I normally and just one of those leavers (I know I'm bad) and leave when I get an evil role (not including exe/jester because I know how to play those), but this game I decided to stay and I ended up winning. I think I was called out for being silent once but avoided being vote up. I never claimed a role. In the end game it was me, a jester, and a townie. We both voted up the jester but both of us abstained and the night began. I killed the townie and won. I was also werewolf one game and was going to fake claim doctor, but no one ever asked until I was the last evil with a bunch of townies so there was no way I could have won. I also recently had the best all any game ever. I was veteran. Sheriff found mafia night 1. Sheriff died night 2. The accused mafia got lynched. There was someone who was defending them a lot and claimed it was because they were friends in real life. I said that was a dumb excuse because Town of Salem is a deception game. Later on in the game it was me, the defender from earlier, and a medium claim. Honestly I didn't believe either of them. The defender claimed escort but had no will and the last person they roleblocked was the arsonist night 2 that I had just killed with an alert. The night came and the next day I was the only one alive. The medium claim, who was a vampire, had been killed by mafia and the escort claim, who was mafioso, had been killed by the vampire.

As Godfather I claim sheriff unless my team leaves or I get unlucky with mafioso then escort I usually end up winning. If the Mafioso or RM leaves D2 I say “Well (Insert Number) was sus but they left” And then I mishang to gain majority with the NE or I do it to make it to balance out the numbers (This works if the jailor can’t exe and you have a mafioso)

HERE'S A COOL TIME TO CLAIM MAYOR! Preferably, you're jester for this. I haven't tested it out with any other roles yet. Day 2, claim to be Mayor and say you'll reveal when x seconds are left on the clock. Like maybe 15 seconds. Have people whisper you their roles. You're more than likely going to get jailed that night because you're not mayor. BUT now you're an ace blackmailer. Tell the jailor that if they execute you, everyone's roles will be revealed in your will. It would be to town's benefit not to execute you until later in the game for the fake claim. Still ballsy, but it worked for me.

As a janitor who ends up cleaning jailor after N4-5 I ALWAYS fake claim jailor, I steal the jailors will and replace it with mine and if even if I have about 2-3 other mad members, I end up fake claiming that I jailed them for the next 2-3 Nights and get away with it, it’s great if you can pull it off honestly! Just make sure there is no medium tho otherwise this could end very badly...

I don't really think claiming veteran is much safer than claiming vigilante for the mafioso for several reasons: 1) *Veteran is a unique role.* It's very easy to get hung, killed by jailor, or shot by a vig if you have claimed veteran and the veteran later dies. 2) *Getting counterclaimed by the legit vet,* particularly while on trial is pretty much a death sentence, especially when other players have clues that lend some credence to the counterclaim. During discussion, getting called out also throws a lot of suspicion on you and puts you in a "his word against yours" situation which greatly reduces your chances of surviving as well as making it much more likely for you to get hung in the lategame should you make it that far. 3) Let's say the town buys your claim and there is no actual vet (and it's asinine to assume there isn't one). It wouldn't take long for town to realize that there has been *no vet killings,* especially when there's at least one TK in the grave. If mafia doesn't have majority, then there's a fair chance you could get called out and hung. 4) *Lookout, tracker, and sheriff can debunk your claim if they catch you.* Obviously veteran is not a visiting role and if a Lookout or Tracker sees you visiting people (and killing them, no less), there's a problem. Claiming veteran while in jail _might_ make the jailor think twice about killing you, but it's not fool-proof, especially if there are dead TKs in the graveyard. So for those reasons, I'd drop the vet claim down to "scummy", as it has its unique risks to take into consideration. At best, it's a high-risk, lukewarm reward claim.
