I was born in 2002 and was raised in Ballina from 2009 to 2021 when I came back to Poland after graduating from Muredachs. After three years its safe to say that I deeeeeply miss Ballina and that I wish for nothing more than to return home some day. I feel and always will a very powerful nostalgia for Ballina because of my childhood spent there.. Oh the green and red of Mayo..

The Junction... Years before it was part of a Mayo restaurant chain called Mr Chips. Terrific burgers, chips to die for - sprinkled in onion salt - and luscious pizzas. The Tesco we saw briefly... it was Quinnsworth. Tesco bought them out. But, the two MOST important destinations in Ballina were Woolworths at one end, and Wellworths at the other. Exactly the same stuff. But, for someone running around in short pants, their toys made the trip to Ballina worthwhile. A decent town, Ballina ☺️

I live in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada (not named after the Peterborough in England but after one Peter Robinson who promoted Irish immigration to this area). We have a Cavan Monaghan township just to the west of us and Douro Dummer to the north east with areas that were largely Scottish to the north and south east... just about everybody who were fed up with the English, but not enough to go to the U.S. or Australia! Still very strong Irish influence in Douro Dummer. I always thought that County Down was misnamed as it it most definitely UP (geographically) in Ireland.

When you decide to tour Canada [don't come in winter - it's all true], please come to the West coast and visit Vancouver Island [we always seem to get missed and it's a crying shame because it truly is the nicest place in Canada]. Victoria is the capital of its Province of BC and capitalizes on its colonist history by dolling things up with a British and Irish flair, complete with double-deckers, a castle or two, a very popular Irish pub, high tea and spectacular gardens, which briefly lull the Americans who flock here every summer weekend into thinking they're in the UK. The Canadian delicacy referred to as the Beaver Tail - a fried dough, smothered in sugar and cinnamon, topped with the sweet confection of your choice [maple, apple, et al], topped with whipped cream and more sprinkly toppings - is worth the trip. We also have dozens of restaurants, many of which are actually quite decent. If that doesn't appeal, there's always the Nanaimo [nan-EYE-mo] bar. Food and beer are BIG here. The beer is cold, but you can microwave it to room temperature like my Mum does. Not kidding. Never mind. We'll leave a Guinness out for you. Victoria also has theatres, clubs and a newish arena, all of which would be happy to host your show if the Irish pub doesn't attempt to monopolize your time - it would. I am sure you'll feel right at home, and while it cannot compare to Ballina, I humbly give it an 8.75. P.S. I deleted all the political bits.
