One of the most beautiful songs I ever heard. Period.

Brings tears to my eyes everytime. My dad introduced me to him with Pancho and Lefty. Kurt Vile introduced this album to me on his appearance on Whats in My Bag with Courtney Barnett. This song makes me feel emotional and I play it when im in need of a cry. It has literally helped me in ways words cannot do justice. This past year has been rough as I went through my first major loss. Nothing can prepare you for that. It made me question everything in my life including music. I now hold the songs that mean a lot to me very close. Flyin Shoes is one of those songs. In Fact I purchased the whole album.

Every stitch in this massive sail of a tune, the opening harmonica wail and piano... The minimal drumming, the little Mexican licks....pedal steel pulling you through the swinging doors. And Towne's broken and aching heart calling for your ear, his gentle guitar. And now, only one tear that ran so slowly, still; as I tap the tiny keys and why... That one alone, as I finish nearly dry. 🎼🎵🎶🎸💔🔥🔥

So glad I got to go see Townes in London. I think it was a year or so before he died. He was so great. And he was fuckin hilarious with his stories.

I post his music on my FB wall oft as it is a shame his music remains fairly unwell known.

Agreed. Him, Blaze, and Newbury are criminally unknown. Townes less than the other two, but all 3 suffered from poor promoting. Damn shame.

It's a shame, yes, but it makes it all the more special to those of us who know him.

I just said this a moment ago and I figure I might as well share it again that I'd be full of it if id try to say different ... that he is one of the greatest people I've ever listened to among tens of thousands of songs, and many songwriters.

Listen to Zach Bryan if you like Townes. This song especially reminds me of flyin or cryin by Zach and the other way around. Twins of each other one faster one slower but with a very similar feeling

That's incredible you said this!!!! I'm the only known player in existence to play this, cover this song, on acoustic, in charango tuning, which is a tuning I love

You are so off the mark, it's sad. I would hate to go through live with your vantage point. I responded with respect as if you are serious, but most will recognize, you are just a yanker.

it's never just a man, as a writer said, it is a man and his circumstances. one man's whiner is another man's poet. Vive la differance , Pilgrim.
