There are a lot of hype moments in Haikyuu but the poster reveal is on my TOP 3 moments. It's just so pure. It's probably the first time Hinata felt validated and seen. It's like Yachi's way of thanking Hinata for the confidence he gave her.
@JacopoBasanisi2 жыл бұрын
You lost the moment when the mother started crying (with joy I suppose) in the station. She had the same communication issue. One of the best thing about the manga and then the anime is that every awesome thing is just casual, natural. Seeing the match with Yachi's eyes was beautiful. They do the things they practiced, it's as simple as that. No supermoves, no 3 episode boasting for a little accomplishment. Point taken, here we go for another point. Of course the big impact is possible because the beautiful animation. But we have to give credit to the original idea and the original point of view, the author is very good at capturing the right moments in the right way

*Manga Spoiler* . . . . . . . Them talking about wisely introducing family members in order to enhance the plot makes me think about how brilliant Kageyama's backstory is with the introduction of his grandfather and sister

You got the whole “lack of parents” thing really spot-on - the mangaka didn’t want to half-ass additional plot points and tried to keep things volleyball-focused, only introducing family members through some volleyball-related topics/issues, and they did so wonderfully. Also, funnily enough, the first time they drew that poster with Hinata (the one you saw) the made him left-handed by accident :”D Fixed it in the volume though!

You were right about the parents not showing up to games. Japanese work ethic is popularly not great for work/life balance. Plus, games are usually on the weekday, and in the morning. Parents (mostly dads) who work in an office aren't gonna dip to go see a match at that time, and stay-at-home moms are likely busy with household chores and making meals if there are younger siblings still out of school. Some parents might go if it were the nationals final match, but the crowd is more likely to be other athletes competing, schoolmates who got the day off to cheer (for powerhouse schools), members of the press, local college students on break, or younger adults with more informal work (like the neighborhood association guys).

Also the culture doesn’t vilify parents for not showing up to their kids games they usually talk about it when they get home

Even more than that in later seasons tbh, I've rewatched this series so many times and yet.. it manages to makes me feel thrilled everytime. Guess that's Furudate's writing and amazing adaption for you.

I just love how much they have bought into and enjoy these characters. I always look forward to their reactions! 🥰 Yachinis every introverted, anxious creative girl with a strict mom lol I have never related to an anime girl as much before!

I was also impressed by the poster! Thank you for the fun reaction today! I think it's the same in every country, but in Japan it's still difficult for single mothers to work and raise children. I think Yachi's mother loved her so she wanted her to grow up and be strong. Mom is happy to hear her words and feel her growth and cry! And she's rooting for her path! I'm sorry English is strange! I also have to study English with Hinata😂

We kinda heard Hinata's mom in the background when he was studying while texting kenma and his sister asks him to play but the mom in the background says he is studying. and when Hinata powers up (yoshaaaa lol) the mom goes "be quiet shoyo!" :)

The thing that made me love Haikyuu so much, is that every episode always gives a lesson for life. I've always thought that this anime is all about action in volleyball court. I'm glad I watched this anime.

Their discussion about parents in the story reminded me of Ookiku Furikabutte (Oofuri). Most of the parents esp moms and siblings of the members in the MC team have been introduced and they help the team a lot like taking videos of other team. Some of my colleages (I'm living in Japan) also go see or help their sons' games on weekends so I think it's not rare for parents to be involved but may be mostly local teams rather than school clubs.

One thing I find interesting about Yachi's mom "don't half-ass stuff" philosophy might stem from her being a single mom. Though I think it has never been confirmed but it might be that Yachi's father had left them and had not committed to the relation. So the mom is little extra harsh when it comes to that stuff. Just a theory.
@projectomnia1997 Жыл бұрын
It is really sound advice, though how it was framed was definitely rough around the edges. Depending on the child and how much self confidence they do or don't have would highly determine how that statement would be taken. With a Yachi you get what you'd expect and thankfully it works out for the best in the end but of course it can easily cause someone to shut down as well.

Fun Fact: Haikyuu has a gag spin off manga called 'haikyuu-bu' that is just stupid fun. There are chapters with characters playing robots and finding bigfoot (don't recommend reading all of it yet though coz spoilers.) There is a chapter (ch 66) in the manga about how much Shimizu sucks at drawing (look at the poster in this episode,) and Yachi struggling to teach how to draw humans that look like... humans. It's good fun

okay so I read from some other comment from other youtube reactions that in an interview, the mangaka said they try not to touch too much on family stuff because it's a sensitive topic to portray. Which fair, besides it's primarily a sports story so they center around the team. But boy when the story does touch on family events, it touches the heart of the audience.

In most cases, parents go to support their children's team tournaments in Japan as well. Especially for big competitions. There are few depictions in Haikyu. However, at this stage, parents may not go to support.
