Love this channel ! Especially the disabled bay “ we can park were we like” people who get towed. I am a disabled lady who truly needs to park close to buildings if I go anywhere, I really appreciate that you police the disabled bays on our behalf. I live in Scotland and they are really strict here about illegal parking but the “ we can do what we like” brigade still block the access spaces rather than walk a few more paces. Hi I’ve been watching for about 8 months now and I have a couple of questions as I’m from the UK 🇬🇧. 1) are the tags issued by the DMV or the HOA? 2) what’s the difference between a ‘tag’ and ‘license plate’ or are they one of the same? In the UK we have vehicle tax, which is different to the licence plate which is effectively a tax to go onto public roads etc. In addition we sometimes can have parking permits for work and/or residential areas, and we have to pay (in most circumstances) extra for these. I’m just slightly confused vis-à-vis your system in the USA 🇺🇸. Thanks in advance👍

Each of the states have their own system, but basically you pay the state, or some subdivision or agency of the state, an annual vehicle registration fee. The state gives you a license plate or a pair of plates to mount on the car, and there will be a small sticker or pair of stickers which indicate when the registration expires. (In this case, the woman was ridiculously claiming that although she had a September 2020 sticker, her registration wasn’t expired in December 2020.) The word “tag” is sometimes colloquially used in place of “license plate.” The HOA’s and apartment complex managers don’t have any role in vehicle registration, but they are required by local laws to keep their properties clear of abandoned cars and cars that don’t have up-to-date tags, plus it is simply good property management practice to do so.
