The Gauntlet 2 30 side lever is a great entry level PCP air rifle. I just got one and it's fun to use. So far I'm hitting plates at 150 yards.
@toxicmatrix133720 сағат бұрын
Its one of the best budget air rifles out there. I need to push back more, at 100 yards its capable of sub moa groups

I have a gauntlet 30 but they say the AEA Challenger Airgun Standard has even more power.
@toxicmatrix13376 күн бұрын
The 30 cal AEA challenger is pretty neck and neck to the G30. Technically the G30 has more power, its been regulated to 2900 psi when you get it. If you change the reg or possibly shim it, the G30 is going to be more powerful by a little bit. AEA destroys most manufacturers when it comes down to power for low cost.

Great video, very informative. A bit of perspective - you need a scuba cylinder or a high pressure pump for those PCP rifles. That is not an insignificant investment. You can get a 10-22 for about $350, and it has a ten-round magazine. The .22lr is a go-to rifle for many shooters, due to economy of scale. It is a definite win for the PCP rifles regarding the ability to get it shipped straight to your home (usually) and no tax stamp for the suppressor. Also, .22 ammo can be relatively affordable, is easy to store, and lasts almost forever. As others have said, you are a pretty decent shot! Thank you for making a very interesting video!
@toxicmatrix13376 ай бұрын
Thank you! Correct, the fill method is going to be an additional cost to get started. The good thing is that cost is distributed across however many PCPs someone ends up buying. For someone looking to get a solid unit, say 800 dollars, across 10 PCPs the price is 80 dollars per airgun. Even for firearms, one safe can be hundreds to thousands of dollars, but when you are storing a dozen firearms, it isnt so much when you break down how many its storing. The air source should be considered part of ammo costs. With no primer, no casing, no powder, the air being propellent, its part of the cost that firearm catridges carry. That units one time fee only costs you electricity or gasoline after, where as every single catridge for a firearm has it built into the price.

Start up cost, weight and maintenance are big considerations.
@toxicmatrix13376 ай бұрын
You will need a compressor, it can be as little as a couple hundred or thousands if you want to go all out. The compressor is something that should be considered part of ammo cost. Imagine having a unit for firearms that produced gun powder out of thin air. With the cheaper cost of lead pellets and slugs vs cartridges, you are saving money over time. Get molds and cast your own and you save even more. Weight can add up, but if that is a concern, swapping to carbon fiber bottles will shave about a half of a pound quickly. Maintenance is practically zero. Run a good filter on your air compressor, use proper ammo, shouldnt really have a problem. Never use petroleum based lubes or solvents. 1000s of rounds and a completely spotless barrel is something youll never see from any firearm. Zero fouling.

Thanks for the video! Can you share what modification you've done on the Gauntlet barrel in order to fit the slug?
@toxicmatrix13376 ай бұрын
I had it built at Hajimoto, they have an option on the site for barrel work. Im not 100% sure what all is involved, but it should chamber slugs normally, it apparently just makes it a bit easier. The new G30 SLs from Umarex claim to be slug ready now.

If your protective cover on your fill valve cap is being pushed off by air pressure, your fill valves are the trouble it acts like a Schrader valve on a car tire. Pull the hand guard off, de-pressure the air system. Use caution when doing this. Then pull the fill valve out, clean the valve out with a little break clean , blow it out with an air compressor. Use Teflon tape on the threads. All the mating surfes that are threaded, rap them with tape. Brass plugs, and the threads on the bottle too. Reassemble in reverse. Air this up to full charge. Spray a little soap and water on these areas to check for any leaks. No bubbles your fixed. Install hand guard over the air bottle. Then let the rifle sit for a bit and watch the gauge on the rifle. See if it drops. If it holds great your up and running. But if the fill valve is bad, contact umerx, I got one for free from them. The also threw in two extra internal parts for the fill valve
@JaredBalmer-i3kКүн бұрын
My thoughts are that the valve could be bad, causing a leak , not allowing you to fill the air cylinder on the rifle. Good luck with this hopefully this helps you

I'd have to say the Gauntlet 30. Out of all the PCPs I have, its still my favorite. If you use Griffin boat tail slugs in it, its a laser beam. Only downside is that you need to single feed them in.

@@toxicmatrix1337 They sure do. They also load into the breech with a relatively light push. I haven't tried the bigger boat tails, but I have a large supply of 64 grains that I'm very happy with.
@jdp57046 ай бұрын
In case you haven't tried this yet... don't go more than 4 or 5 turns in from zero on the hammer spring screw. If you go too far your gun will dump the entire air tank. Not like it damages the gun but it will surprise you if it happens! About 2 turns in from stock (which is about 3 turns from zero) is as far as you can go before it wastes air and then pretty soon will just dump air.

Me personally I'd go with the invader that's probably a good starting home defense I don't think a sniper type rifle is really good for what is coming in the near future you want semi-automatic no cocking capabilities, right? Obviously a blitz would be the best but not everyone has that kind of money kicking around
@toxicmatrix13372 ай бұрын
Id probably go with a Megalodon. The pump action is pretty much a guarantee that it wont jam and it would have more than enough power to handle anything. For a cheaper option, the Bintac M50 with the pump kit.

@@N4STYNATE If you weren't able to buy a firearm? I think its a pretty viable option. Its manual cocking, you can get a pump action kit for it to speed things up. Rounds went through about 15 inches of ballistics gel with it. These shouldn't leak out, you can have it stored ready to go.
