Gondii involvement in Arthur Ashe's illness which only drove my interest/curiosity farther. I know of 2 friends that have had cats as pets for years and in these 2 cases, they’re able to conceive but miscarry by 10 weeks of pregnancy. It’s happened to them 4-5 times. Could they have any T-Gondii antibodies in their system that could be causing them to miscarry?

So yes cats are a required host but they only shed oocysts when they are 1st infected for 2 weeks. In addition, it takes more than 24 hrs for the oocytes to become infected. So routine/daily scooping of litter boxes greatly reduces chance of infection

Toxoplasma really should be treated non immunocompromised patients as well. the cysts can get into heart and brain tissue. Scary no doctor takes this disease seriously
