Love Mark Plati. Wonderful interview. I'm a fan of his and of course of Bowie!

Plati helped Bowie with some songs in the 90s and 00s, and also played the guitar when he performed live. I always think of him as an important member of the Bowie band

So awesome to see this finally officially released. I had so loved the leaked version that showed up a long while back. Mark is right - this band was really rocking! Can't wait to get my order of the 3 disc set of this.

Thanks Mark. New Bowie discoveries for me still after his passing. Thank you so much. I have already quickly checked out the first track. I think I know the inspiration.

It was scrapped and turned into Heathen. You can find a lot,of the tracks on KZbin - or you used to be able to. A beautiful version of Slip Away called Uncle Floyd. I’ve got a bootleg of it and the tracks are: 1. Uncle Floyd 2. Afraid 3. Baby Loves That Way 4. I Dig Everything 5. Conversation Piece 6. Let Me Sleep Beside You 7. Toy (Your Turn To Drive) 8. Hole In The Ground 9. Shadow Man 10. In The Heat Of The Morning 11. You’ve Got a Habit Of Leaving 12. Silly Boy Blue 13. Liza Jane 14. The London Boys It’s certainly interesting (though nowhere near as interesting as Heathen), consisting of new versions of very early songs and songs that ended up on Heathen, then others that have since been released as singles, EPs or B-Sides, with I think maybe a couple of unreleased tracks, but the whole feel is a bit standard rock with a sense of something missing. Of course though these weren’t ready for release, but even so, some of the material manages to break through all that and just soar. How much of this was really intended to be Toy is unclear, but it’ll be great to hear what a quality band will produce. Part of me can’t help but think Bowie must’ve left a treasure trove of unreleased material, but then again part of me can’t help thinking he’s still alive and just taken severe retirement…

We want some LIVE footage, for Chrissakes. The David Hemmings film of the 78 Tour, for example. None of us are getting any younger.

A 1978 live DVD would be great. Especially from the UK gigs. I went to quite a few of the UK dates that year and would love to relive those memories. Would love a whole gig from both 1974 and 1976 too. My first Bowie gig was London May 1976. I was still at school at the time.

This video made me frantically dig out all the magazines I bought after his passing (I had everything in storage for about a year and a half and just moved into my apartment a month ago). Phew, I found them!! I’m so glad my gran raised me to love this masterpiece of a human being!

This record is birth of his greatest post Scary Monsters band. Better by a margin than the Earthling band. Heard the bootlegs once, can't wait for the real deal. DB and this band made me love music more than anyone else. Bowie's composing style and the ideas from all of these people. God, he was something else.

This is exciting! I remember hearing about Toy some years ago, glad to hear it's finally getting an official release. I'm wondering if some of the unreleased Leon/Outside recordings will be made available at some point as well.

Having the 'unofficial' copy of this CD, I've been enjoying it for a number of years now. Finally everyone else gets to enjoy this amazing music...Of course I'll buy the official version.
@m.b.boyack22283 жыл бұрын
So, you're not even going to share your 'CD' play list with us mere mortals? Somehow the risk of your 'CD' being copied and leaked tells me it doesn't exist. My advanced copy of the 'TOY' recordings, from studio engineers, was on encrypted computer file only. My copy has "When I Live My Dream", "Let Me Sleep Beside You", "Rubber Band", "Please Mr. Gravedigger", "Sell Me A Coat", "Maids Of Bond Street", "Silly Boy Blue", "Liza Jane", "London Boys", "We Are The Hungry Men", "Love You Till Tuesday", "She's Got Medals" and "Come Buy My Toys". There were other songs recorded, but the final track playlist for 'TOYS' was changed several times, as is common. Why would you feel obliged to purchase something you already own, especially if that ownership is legitimate?

@davidratcliffe50003 жыл бұрын
Yes! Seems an odd decision to not include those tracks.. why not stick 'em on the Recall disc at least? Uncle Floyd is too good to stay 'hidden'.
@BlueGrenadeTom3 жыл бұрын
Yeah that version of Uncle Floyd is beautiful. Perhaps because a version of both was on Heathen. I just love the intro of the cast from the Bones and Oogie show (whatever it was called - was it called The Uncle Floyd Show?) having a laugh then it’s slowly given this sense of saudade as it gets distant and echoey, with this nostalgic sense of time and space opening up and losing us, then Bowie’s suddenly right there to catch us with his warm voice. Don’t often associate Bowie’s work with warmth as such…
@frankirons93372 жыл бұрын
Maybe they'll include it with a remaster of Heathen?
