The problem people have with Cyclops is that it's his job as team leader to boss around the more popular characters, which can make him seem like too much of a wet blanket. It's the same reason why some people don't like Leonardo or Superman, they're literally on the team to tell the team's cool guy not to do his cool guy thing.
