Hey, Burf! You lucky dog, you!! I have always wanted to meet Dirk Benedict. I remember him from Battlestar Galactica (yes, I am that old!) Had a big crush on him. If I remember correctly, VHS tapes and recorders had barely come out at that time (except to the very rich) and if you missed an episode, you just MISSED it! You are so lucky! I watched him on A-Team as well. Great actor and very funny. What a haul! Wish I had been there. Best to the family! Love ya!

Great video--Love going to Toy shows with you--I only have a few small Star Wars figures and would love to have more. I know that you are excited to see all of the toys and just to be there, and we at home share that with you. That being said, I would like to be able to see more of the prices and more concentration on the Star Wars figures, but I understand that you are more interested in other series. That being said also, I AM AMAZED AT HOW MANY DIFFERENT FIGURES THERE ARE IN EACH LINE, and like you, I have not seen any of some of the series before--AND I really appreciate the custom-made figures. They are awesome and probably not many made of each and/or with different paint jobs. (However, I am wondering how they can make figures of the biggies, like Batman, MTNTs, and Superman without paying licensing fees?) And truth be known, I would get a bigger thrill of the meet, greet, photo, and autograph of some more modern character actors, like Robert Downy, Jr., Halle Berry, or Scarlet Johansson. Anyway, I am thrilled you got to go and enjoy the Show and to get to meet one of your favorite actors, and pick up some great buys at the Show and at your thrift store. And on another note, we have a Comicon-type show here in Richmond, VA every year and it is definitely awesome with huge crowds of cosplay characters, toys and memorabilia for sale, very famous character actors and guests, and free giveaways. However it is way too expensive--tickets are sold months in advance with 1-day, 2-day, 3-day, and executive passes with many signings and events costing extra. It is almost cost-prohibitive for a family with kids, and parking at the Convention Center is at a premium. The meet and greets are outlandishly expensive--the last show had William Shatner and you could get a personal picture and signature for $150 dollars, plus admission to the show and a parking fee. Although I appreciate Bill for all of his characters and his longevity, I feel that money would be better spent on actual physical toys for the collection. (And to give you another example not in the collectible field, Marylea wanted to go see Cher when she was here in concert several years ago, and tickets in what we call the nose-bleed sections (very high up and far away from the stage) were over $300 apiece, regular price, not scalped. And the up-close-and-personal seats in the orchestra pit were over $500.) So I am happy to go along with you to your local shows for free and learn something along the way. Cowabunga, Dude!

3:25 That's not Wonderbread He-Man, that's Savage He-Man. Wonderbread had nothing to do with that figure, it was a mail away promotion that Mattel was doing -- it didnt get much coverage until the mid 90s with the internet and fans/collectors wanted to know what's up with this figure. Eventually, with many years of speculation, the mystery was solved when Pixel Dan was contacted by a toy store who just happened to have the legendary figure in their possession. He bought it of course. The figure that you showed is an homage to the Savage He-Man figure, it also comes included with a loaf of bread which is a nice nod to the myth.
@80sToysRoc2 жыл бұрын
Gotcha…thank you for that! That’s good to know! It’s funny, I actually asked the owner of that booth, “is that Wonder Bread He-man?” …and he said “Yes, and it’s $4,500”. ….based on what you just said, sounds like he was scamming.
@ScatteredCollector2 жыл бұрын
@@80sToysRoc that is funny, though I must ask, did that He Man you see have a loaf, if so, he was scamming. However it could have been one of the very few Savage He Man figures out there as we don’t know how many were produced. Only 1 has ever been recorded and that’s the aforementioned KZbinr and collector
