I’m so glad that someone filmed this. Toy love my all time favourite band I would never miss a gig except the time the bouncer on the door at the globe wouldn’t let me in coz I was under age. Then I just sat outside and listened to them anyway. Mike Dooley best drummer ever

I envy everyone that saw even one Toy Love show live. I am saddened by my existence not going back far enough for even the opportunity. Although I am thankful for their phenomenal music left behind. Long live Chris Knox the king of New Zealand punk.

I saw them at the Island of Real in Airedale Street and at Sweetwaters. Chris Knox was a fun guy.

I saw them live many times in the late 70s and early 80s in various venues around Auckland., including Mainstreet, Shore City, and Sweetwaters around 1980. Memory of Sweetwaters is a bit hazy (wonder why?) , but I remember Chris eviscerating a watermelon on stage during the performance. What an amazing live band. Great on recordings, but live they were something else. Alec Bathgate is so amazing. But so were all of them.

Best band of the times by a long way (Scavs closest behind)! Saw them at Zwines late '70s when they were at their peak - before softening to appease the music companies and venues. They were a hell of an experience!

Wow, Fantastic! Just look at our Gorgeous Boy Chris (8:00) and what's that on his face? It's interesting to think of the narrative of his/their songs, reflecting whatever stage of life they are in at the time --that is, the way they matured into the Tall Dwarfs, the magnanimity of their later poetry, and most recently the moody quiet of post-stroke Chris (See "Sunday Song").
