Toy perform Join the Dots - live session video
Subscribe to Guardian Music HERE: bit.ly/GuardianMusic
Psychedelic indie-rock outfit Toy crash into the Guardian studio for a full-throttle live rendition of Join the Dots, the title track of their eagerly-awaited new album. Equal parts Pink Floyd and Neu!, the five-piece London band specialise in transcendent guitar noise and propulsive, repetitive motorik rhythms

Why is there always so much negativity in youtube comments? If you don't like it, don't watch it, simple. I personally love these guys, (I've been lucky enough to see them play twice, both times they were brilliant and I even met them afterwards the second time, they were all lovely) and of course I'm not saying everyone needs to like them, music is a personal preference and always will be. My point is, there's absolutely no need to go round shitting on bands' performances just because it isn't your cup of tea. Some people are just here to enjoy the music, stop ruining it for everyone else.

c'est un disque ou on découvre le vertige des grands espaces.Partant souvent d'une mélodie classique enrobée de cet écho feutré qui fait la signature du groupe ,toy part dans des envolées instrumentales déroutantes mais reste toujours passionnant

A lot of negativity surrounding his voice. I think it's fine on the recording. Has anyone ever seen New Order live? Sumner can't sing live for toffee, but the seem to have done alright...

why bands got to have a 60s, 70's hairstyle? sure bands in 60s, 70s weren't trying to emulate 1920s, 1930s haircuts.

Desperately need a new singer. The young man cannot sing worth, well you know. Their sound is alright, and could be good with some work, but from what I have heard they just sound like another band trying to sound like a bunch of other bands out right now.

He's a great lyricist and a great frontman. Couldn't care less if he's not the brightest singer. Personally I love his voice and his intonation. As for the band in general, you must just be deaf.

superads91 Not deaf, just recognize when a band is just alright. They are just alright, and the singer does not sing well. And from what I can tell about his lyrics they are not the bees knees either. If you love his voice then great; from what it sounds like you and some other people really enjoy this group. But, to say I am deaf because I think the singer is bad, and the band itself is mediocre is just silly. It is not like they are recognized by the masses as being some great group; so it is not like you have the popular vote on your side. You like them; I do not, does not mean I am deaf, but you claiming that I might be means that you are a t**t.

nuber44newseries Popular vote ceased to be a good indicator of the quality of a band back in 1970 something. I didn't say you're deaf because you think they're mediocre. I said it because you say they're "trying to sound like a bunch of other bands right now". I don't think anyone in the game right now uses the motorik beat, the sonic youth/mbv-like noise, the post punk feel, and the existential lyrics. Know any band who's using these elements right now?

And DON'T say The Horrors, because they haven't put out an album in 3 years and, though they have some common influences, they sound nothing like TOY. TOY are way less "glam" and way more laid back.

superads91 No they kind of sound like they are trying to be a more popular version of The Black Angels or Clinic. I agree that the popularity in music does not always represent the cream rising to the top, but was simply saying that if you had that you could at least say, "hey, look everyone disagrees with you and that is why you must be deaf." I just think the singer has an unattractive voice, and I think the players could use some more seasoning. With a solid vocalist and some more practice they could be solid. Just don't think they are there yet.
