I'm always so floored by the amount of thought going into the lighting. You're definitely an inspiration and I've been wanting to get more into figure photography for YEARS, but never had the resources to do so that I could find. Other people in the community have been filled with vitriol when asked how they got their shots, telling me to 'grind it out' and such, when I'm just trying to have fun in the hobby. These run throughs are amazing and you're doing the community such a great service to share your knowledge!

Thanks for that, Christopher! The techniques I use aren't really anything I invented - they're used in all kinds of photography. I tell people to watch videos on portrait and product photography all the time. There's almost no tips or tricks that anyone does that someone else already hasn't done, so why not share - that's how the hobby grows!

Excellent work, Trevor. Very indepth and I just learned a lot right here. I appreciate you including the camera settings at the end too. Determining my camera settings is something I always struggle with.

Thank you for doing these. Getting to hear the process and why you put your lights in these certain positions is everything a person needs to get started in setting up professional level lighting.

Very welcome! It's always great to see people getting started in the hobby progress fast because of myself and others sharing techniques.

awesome breakdown, this is super helpful as I'm trying to improvement my photography skills. Side note when looking at this picture with the epic mountain background I can't help but hum the Lord of the Rings theme in my head.

Your shot breakdowns are second to none bro, great jobs as always. I use istock for my background pics but they never look as clear as yours does here. Is this because I don’t have a subscription? Don’t mind paying if I can get quality like this.

Thanks! The images are pretty high res - generally 5000+ pixels wide and 300dpi.
