I had to go through a much longer procedure customizing my Woody. The body was from the Signature Collection Woody made by Thinkway, the hands were from Disney Store Woody (similar to yours), and the head was from the Soft and Huggable Plush. As of now I've requested a commission from someone to make me a new voice box with Tom Hanks's voice, by the time I get it, I might actually have the most accurate Woody ever.

I used a signature collection woody from 2009/2010. he doesn't have the split fingers, but with an exacto and a lighter as well as something for spacing, you can spread his fingers apart and with the head swap you can make him movie accurate

I think the plush Woody's head sculpt is the closest we got to a movie-accurate expression. Only his left eyebrow is inaccurate. It annoys me how the Signature Collection from Thinkway never got it right.

I used the old fireman woody for the body of my custom because it has better boots, a real leather belt, and a more accurate body. All I had to do is swap out the buttons, voice box, and the plastic ring on the pullstring

Gramcrackr just take it one step at a time, you definitely don't need a heat gun, all u gotta do is cut the zip ties at the square. Parts and put new a new zip tie exactly where the old one went 👌

Holy crap, the comments on this are open. Hope that stays the case (*knock on wood*) You might want to start listing an email address or something in your "About" just in case that changes. It happened to the Buzz video. Be nice if someone started cloning Soft & Huggable Woody's head, that would be a godsend. Why Thinkway and Disney store perpetually fail to give Woody his screen-accurate placid closed-mouth smile, I have no idea. But in twenty-five years of Toy Story, Soft & Huggable Woody is the first time it's been done. In this particular case, it's a perfect swap. The stock face on the other Woody, with its open-mouth smile and the (VERY screen-inaccurate) extra-friendly irises, looks more like it belongs on a Soft & Huggable toy to begin with.

Since I can't say it on the Buzz vid, I'll say it here: You did a good job on Buzz. For future reference, fine-grit sandpaper works wonders both for prepping plastic for painting and for removing botched paintwork from a relatively smooth surface like Buzz's breastplate. An Exacto or similar craft knife can be used to carefully scrape excess paint out from sockets (and thus, fix the problem you had with the buttons sticking). As for the helmet issue..One of the prongs on the clothespin-style spring probably isn't actually set in its socket. Some notes: * I see that Disney Store Buzz has gone back to using the 1995 Thinkway molds of Buzz's limb sections where possible instead of the clone pieces from circa 2010; you can tell because the pieces screw together instead of being glued. * Disney Store Buzz is in almost all respects, but from a play standpoint the right arm could use either a clutch that can be released to disengage it from the karate chop action, or a reworking of the karate chop action so that it's "Move arm 90 degrees from arm's current position, then spring back". That's probably best left to 3P upgrade kits though. * Disney Store Buzz could also use an upgrade for his hands; the wrists are just swivels instead of being ball or universal joints like in the films. * Another key point of functional inferiority (one shared by almost all 12" Buzzes, to be fair) is that his abdomen is solid instead of being actual accordion tubing over a working ab crunch joint. * Disney Store Buzz's soundboard is kinda iffy IMO, one of his biggest accuracy flaws: Too many "Alive" lines, not enough of the canon voice simulator lines (this affects a lot of later Thinkway Buzzes too). Extra-annoyingly, one of the chipspace-wasting "alive" lines is from Utility Belt Buzz, and one of the omitted phrases is "Buzz Lightyear to the rescue!". Of all phrases to leave out, that one's inexcusable. I would advise saving the jetpack from the second Disney Store Buzz as upgrade material should you ever get your hands on an Intergalactic Buzz (because Intergalactic Buzz is super-awesome, but being a 1995-6 Buzz means he's cursed with the original jetpack design). You'd need silver and black chroming pens (although ideally you would use that Buzz's backplate, to save yourself the trouble of cutting out a mounting hole in the Disney Store backplate), and black and red paint. Also cutting tools and a soldering iron if you wanted the wing lights to stay functional, since you'd have to transplant the power terminals on Buzz that the jetpack hooks up to from one Buzz to the other.

This custom is no where 100% movie accurate. There are a lot things of inaccurate about it. The eyebrows are not straight the eyes aren’t glossy the hair doesn’t have the lines and it’s a mat finish the hat is so heavy it makes his head fall over stitching is fake the vest is just some kind of felty material and to yellowy it likes to come when you pick him up shirt is just some his arm’s and legs are to over stuffed in the movie woody is very floppy this one seems a bit over stuffed pull string ring is too big the string is too short and not slow retract he doesn’t say signature phrase just shitty Toy Story 4 phrases the his gun holster-doesn’t swivel and is too small and cheep Quality the belt is not real material to it just a rubbery material buckle is the wrong color and doesn’t have much detail as for the boots there ok but the points on spurs aren’t even to point they’re just rounded and are just like a flat gold they don’t even look like real spurs they just look like a bad attempt at making them look like spurs.
