Not only that, maybe Sid's parents took him to a psychologist where Sid said that toys are alive and his psychologist must have said "toys are not alive, they are full of stuffing and made out of plastic or wood" and then his psychologist would probably say "are you sure you didn't have a nightmare of a toy coming after you?" with Sid saying that he's hoping it was a nightmare.

Yes, this was a traumatic experience for Sid. Yes, he does have a crap home life. The toys didn't just get back at Sid for themselves, they did it for Hannah, too. (Likely not on purpose) Several of the toys he messed with were hers. I like to think he was a lot kinder to her after this. Had Sid not terrorized his little sister via her toys, I might have felt sorry for him in some way when Woody scared the living daylights out of him. Whether or not Sid knew the toys were alive, he knew Hannah was and consistently/constantly destroyed her dolls.

What I like more about this scene than the cut one, is the way the toys are portraited. They acted sinister and scary because it’s just how they feel with Sid torturing them, but later they celebrated their victory and the audience can feel that same Joy as well. So, summing up, the trauma is for Sid, not for the kids in the audience. Also, I liked that Hannah also had her little revenge as well, pretty sure her toys wont be damaged anymore 😂

Have you ever looked at the hints of what his home life is like the movie subtly drops and let’s you put the pieces together afterwards? His father is sleeping in a recliner with a bunch of empty beer cans littered all around and he has a deer head in his room and flying ducks as wall paper decoration and given Scud’s reaction to Sid’s father, which causes him to reluctantly retreat and give up chasing Buzz and the locks on Sid’s door, it’s OBVIOUS his father is an abusive alcoholic and a hunting enthusiast who takes pleasure in killing animals. Also with the way his mother is oblivious to Sid blowing up toys with explosives in addition to handling them unsupervised and not getting involved whenever he picks on his sister and steals her toys for one of his mutations and letting him ride all the way to Pizza Planet on a skateboard, it also shows she’s the type of mom that doesn’t care what her son does however illegal or abusive. I think it’s OBVIOUS with the type of parents he has, he lives in a broken home and he unfortunately imprinted on some of his father’s abusiveness and sadism.

hes my favorite like andy & i got him nine years ago at toys r us!!! i got him with me right now & a couple days after i bought him i promised him i’d always love him & take care of him no matter how old i am!!! i didnt care if i was 19 & still dont if im 28!!! but in october last year i woke up from sleeping with him & his head came off. i was as devastated as andy was when his arm ripped in the second movie. i guess it was just wear & tear. i got it back on but now it shakes & turns a lot. im trying 2 keep my promise & never, ever, ever, ever break it. in his play mode when he says it i tell him “i will woody. im not like sid, emily or the kids in the caterpillar room.” slinkys my second favorite cuz im a dog person & he was his best friend b4 buzz. im glad toys r us opened back up in macys. i went there when my brother & i went 2 the mall two weeks ago but i hope they open their real stores back up like they were gonna b4 quarantine. i still love it & toys
