This one is so cool! I love any of the sets with clear parts on the roof or any parts where you can see inside without opening the set. It just feels so cool, like you're literally looking into another tiny world.

I agree. I loved playing with it SO much as a kid. I also have always loved grocery shopping and grocery stores, so that's probably part of it!

So thrilled you were able to get this set! When you mentioned that you were missing the groceries, I had a hunch that you would make a copy with resin/clay or use the 2006 ones 😄 Can't wait to see the completed map!

Whaaaaaat. I just came across your channel and I am blown away! I was talking with my sister the other day that the toys in the 80’s and 90’s were so much better quality and had a lot more detail then the toys of our generation in the 2000’s. This definitely proves my point; I got jipped! I think my favorite part is how detailed everything in and the brilliant coloring. Also the aesthetic is so beautiful.

I still have this set. I loved it, tho somehow it never occurred to me that u could put Polly in front of the cart lol. I have no memory of the car. I was sooo upset when I lost my groceries! :( I could have sworn they were pink tho. The doors on mine never opened properly, cool to see a working version. :3 Never noticed that the light button was an atm. ^o^ My fav features were always the checkout, the pink rubber is still fun to touch and I still adore that it moves; and the freezer that both lights up and opens. the car of top on building is probably a $. 25 quarter machine .. back in 80’s & early 90’s .. we had the quarter riding machines .. they usually was a pony, or car… u would put a quarter in & they would move

There's a few - for example, Fifi's Parisian Apartment that I've done a video on. A few others that have a 'cultural' theme - Tammy's Palm Tree Island, Suki's Tea House. But for the most part, the large majority will have a Polly figure.

how does the reproduction set compare to the original?

The repro for this one is super disappointing. No lights, less colours, I was shocked how plain it was.

I also have the yellow groceries instead of the white one. If I find white groceries for sale is there a way to know if they are an original piece vs. a reproduction?

Unfortunately, no - not really. Which sucks! There are no markings on it. The way the Polly community is striving to make reproductions ethical is for the artist to stamp the reproductions in some way so it's obviously a reproduction. But, again, anyone can choose to not do that. At the end of the day, though - for the groceries, I think a repro would be just fine! It's white plastic, easy to do and gets the job done. I would feel differently about more complicated repros being sold as originals, though.
