What about folding the cape AROUND the arms to make it more like a cloak to fit with the hood? Is it long enough for that?

You can do that. What I've seen folks do is peg the inner holes into the pauldrons on the back, then pop the head and neck off, and put the outer holes in through the neck peg. For some reason I don't like the look, but it does work fine.

I hate the hood because it obscures the totality of her face and hair. Ugh!
