Nice. But how do you work on your truck if you don't have a guitar player jamming away in the background?

Nice job. I might rebuild mine too.

The original lighter socket has one wire only.

Good tutorial! Mine is still working perfectly, but it's good to know if it ever fails. Seen a lot of people recommend just fixing it a magnet, but why on earth would I want to do that when the original spring action feels so good :D

Thank you! Exactly, the springs really feel so much better, and it isn’t hard to ‘fix’ either. The biggest issue for me was figuring out which parts I needed and where to buy them from. Shipping to the EU can be a pain!

I picked up a mint bone stock '85 K20 for cheap because the guy didn't know some old timer installed a push button start in place of the cigarette lighter. It even kinda looks like a lighter. I figured it out within 5 minutes of getting the truck home. The guy I bought it from probably spent a good hour running a jumper wire from the starter up to the battery that you would just touch to the positive terminal to start the truck. He thought the ignition was bad in the column. Lol

I always hated it when the ash tray door would slide down randomly from someone else's abuse

Yeah, but luckily it’s relatively easy to fix!

where you got the heatgun?
@WrenchAtHome3 жыл бұрын
Got it at a local supermarket that has it’s own tool brand (Lidl, tool brand is Parkside). It’s nothing fancy, you should be able to find similar affordable heat guns at any tools store!
