It seems like the last bastion of server balance that isn’t a ghost town is the RPPvP Grobbulus, every single high pop is 99% in one direction. I suppose it’s highly beneficial to control wintergrasp for the entirety of the expansion though.

When Thunderfury died (cause bene) i went to grob. We were at 7k all and 3.9k horde. Then we had a massive tranfers of horde. Now we are at 8.9k ally and 9k horde. Wpvp is great and server is poppin.

Speaking for EU servers, Firemaw is pretty balanced (54% Alliance) - but is unbelievably full to the point there are 7-10k queues at peak hours. We have more people in queue then some healthy servers have in total.

You don't need tons of gold to start wrath. 1k for Cold weather flying, 1k for dual spec and then some for your professions, that's it. You'll also make more gold in wrath than in TBC so don't waste your time farming too much gold if it's not your thing. Mounts aren't needed, the ring isn't bis either (or not for long), and the 2nd heartstone is barely needed when the heartstone goes from 1h cooldown to 30min, and you can still ghetto HS.

You do want the extra gold, you need 5k to go into LK per character if you want to be effective, really. Going in gold shy is a real problem, and you will not be rolling in gold. You sound like someone that wasn't there the last time or only has experience from the private servers, which are tweaked very differently than they are planning from what they have said in interviews.

Point is, pretty much everyone is telling everyone "You *need* to have 10, 20, 35k or some high number of gold to start wrath", as if it was a requirement when it's not. More gold always helps and if you want to go hard, yes, farm as much as you can/want but if you don't plan on going hardcore, you can start with 2-3k and not be that far behind. My comment was just to remind people that they don't need to burn out grinding gold on stuff they might not have a big use for, nothing more. No need to assume things.

You want those 2k Gold as you mentioned, you want to buy the Tundra Mammoth asap for 16k (with exalted rep) since it makes it easier to farm gold and the ring is a great boost for your first naxx raid. Having 2 HS is never a bad idea either and will definitly be the main reason as to why I'll buy it, allowing me to set my HS elsewhere in case I want or need to. Tho professions will be extremely expensive at the start of the xpac since resources are scarce and everyone needs them. It won't be cheap leveling any crafting profession (Especially JC, Engi and BS) and might even cost you more than that Tundra Mammoth if you want it done as soon as you reach 80. If you got time, none of this is essential, but for more dedicated players, preparing 50k+ in raw gold should be the absolute minimum.

Here are some of my own: *Tanks, don’t skimp on expertise. You’ll need 26 for the soft-cap until you get into ICC/RS, where you’ll need to work on a separate expertise-set otherwise the parry/haste bosses will eat you alive. *Specs that are good in T10 aren’t generally as good in T7-8. Most classes two 2-3 DPS specs will have one that’s less gear reliant. *Check your stat-weights and glyphs! A stat and a specific glyph that’s BiS might not be good for you early in the expansion. The physical classes scale very well with armor pen later on, but it’s either you hit the cap or you focus on a different stat. You don’t want to gem for armor pen until you can at least hit about 1K minimum rating. *Higher item level does NOT always mean an item is an upgrade. Sometimes you’ll keep a lower ilvl trinket for most of the expansion because it’s perfectly itemized for your spec. *Darkmoon Card: Greatness is the strongest trinket in the expansion for it’s item-level. You either want to make one and sell it or save up the gold to use it. They’ll be in high-demand because it’s BiS for str/agi specs until ToGC and potentially ICC. Start inscription/herb early. *PvE radials aren’t as important as some lead on. PvP, sure. But the boost you’ll get from certain race/class combos is very minute. I recommend choosing the race that you ENJOY looking at the most. I love the way Blood Elves look in plate, so my DK has always been BE.. plus, arcane torrent is very useful for DK tanks and dps. The damage trade-off from not going Orc or Troll isn’t worth it even discussing. *If you have a gap in your gear set, you can supplement dungeon/raids with items from professions, reputation, BoEs on the AH (though usually overpriced) and even some PvP pieces to get you started. *The most important tip I can possibly give you is to spend your emblems wisely. Save up for your tier set first and check gear priority lists online before wasting emblems on a trinket that might truly be an upgrade.

@@kysfggt Not true. Any dps not watching thier threat mainly mages and rogue back in the day would easily rip aggro, no issue. Prot palidans were loved because they had righteous fury which gave 300% threat which made holding aggro or gaining aggro easier. Obviously this was given later on automatically for all tanks and wasn't a pallidan skill only. It was very common for big hit dps, "rogues and mages" to have to stop dps because threat meter was getting to high. Why everyone basicly needed Omen Meter because of this reason.

You underestimate PvE Racials by so much. An early T7 Assa Rogue or early T10 Arcane mage with Berserking can increase their damage by an insane amount with the extra haste, same counts for the engineering gloves. That one racial can be the difference between doing 15k on pull vs 18-20k on pull

I was scrolled on smolderweb US during classic and it was a medium server and somewhat popping. Reqruiting was not the smoothest process for the guild but we cleared all raids month 1 but I quit after we downed Chun and came back to not even 10 active players on the server a week ago. Now I'm on grob and its poppppppin

I definitely recommend trying to get to 80 without having blown through too many of the quests (do dungeons, do pvp, bounce back and forth between your alts to maximize rested xp) because if you go back at 80 and do all those leveling quests they turn into like 13G a pop. and you destroy them cause you're maxed.

From 70 to 80 you're doing about 4 full zones worth of quests and the extra gold at 80 isn't enough to make up for faster leveling. Your Goal should be to hit 80 asap and not to level many characters at the same time. Not to mention that those 13g only equal to about maybe 9k gold (considering you have done not a single quest in Northrend), There is just so many better ways to make gold than whatever you just recommended.

If you are only looking to play one char, it’s probably just better to do all quests, level up quicker, and spend your time farming gold some more meaningful way at 80. (Especially on a new server being one of the first)

I mean if you need gold and have multiple toons gdkps, crafting, or even doing the quel'danas quests from tbc are pretty good in wotlk. Its probably better to spam quests to get to 80 to unlock arenas to get points rolling in. A fair amount of pre raid bis comes from getting rep from quests to unlock different factions tabards at level 75 you can equip em. So dungeon spamming at around this lvl isn't terrible. A lot of people are already honor capped and mark capped which means as soon as they hit 80 they essentially already have 149k honor saved to spend on pvp epic/blues. Then its probably do crafting daily, make sure to get a Naxx lockout, get arena rating for the week, then start lvling another toon that should be capped on rested xp at this point.

ret paladin gets a huge bonus to damage from spell power as they are basically just a prot pally with higher damage based cd's and waaaaay squishier (obviously) but its priority is beneath expertise, haste, hit chance, and strength

Maybe for PvP, not PvE though. Ret wants Hit > Strength > Crit > Haste. Expertise can be ignored if you’re comfortable with boss encounters. In the very end game, Ret Paladin will use a few Agility pieces such as Polearm, cloak, belt and rings.

Faction balance is a huge mess right now. Unbalanced servers have no incentive to go back to 50/50. As the minority faction starts to lose every Wintergrasp, players will transfer away to access Archavon and make the problem snowball. Most realms will end up completely unbalanced, basically PvE. Blizzard needs to realise that a big problem is coming with Wintergrasp and take action to solve it.

Couple of comments to make on the "problems" you listed: - How do you know that paladin did not have dual spec active and was simply in the healing spec with Ret gear on at the time? - It is a known TBC bug that meta gems did not appear active when inspecting other characters

That 'bug' also appears in Wrath. It's recommended to watch the entire gear anyway, since most people don't actually have a clue about what they have equipped, socketed or enchanted.

best gathering combo is herb/mining, easy gold especially when leveling, just picking up all mats on the way and then selling them if u dont have any profession to use them other good mats prof is skinning when leveling on areas that have lots of animals to skin

Skinning is better early on, since Pelts are rare and much easier to aquire than herbs (since they will be highly contested). Leathers and Scales won't sell for nearly as much yet you'll be able to gather masses way easier and faster. Not to mention that Leather early on will have very decent demand aswell

I have the hardest time with professions because I have 8 characters and lining them all up and who will be my #1 for this expansion. WOTLK paladins are pretty good, but it wasn't my main in TBC and he had JC/mining as his main professions which probably isn't optimal. So now it's like, do I go back and rework all their professions around so I have most of them covered.

I have mixed feelings about the race picking for PvP. Sure, a lot of people will go human for the free trinket. What happens in wrath PvP tho is that a lot of people just use the PvP set with PvE offset items. Being a human means you use 2 PvE trinkets. This sounds amazing on paper, you do more damage right? Issue is, you lose resilience, and you lose a lot of it. At the end of the expansion, a geared PvP character will have around 32-38k hp based on armor type. Now, without proper resilience, warriors will hamstring-reck-bladestorm you to death. You will take 9k judgements, 10k lava bursts and chaos bolts, 10k ambushes. I preferred playing utility racials back in the day instead of human. Like a nelf rogue, shadowmeld is an actual spell in wrath and its really good. Belf is a short silence, forsaken have the partial trinket. Point is, you don't HAVE TO be human. Sure, sometimes it's going to be better, sweating PvPers will be human. But if you just wanna play both PvE and PvP, experience both, just pick the race you actually like.

everyone keeps telling people to pick professions based on bonuses. The first raid tier is an absolute joke. If you aren't already sitting on a pile of gold then going Inscription to make Cards the first tier will make you enough gold to provide for you the rest of the expansion when progression is actually a thing.

Yeah it definitely can. Expertise is important for tanks so Orc tanks with axe specialization help get that expertise cap, same for dwarf and human. This is just one example. Another is Troll for unholy DK - berserking into summon gargoyle is super strong because the gargoyle gains your haste at the time of summoning.

TL:DR Tanks want to be Orcs because of the expertise and other possible bonuses, any class massively profiting from Haste wants to be Troll and anything that doesn't need tons of haste goes Orc (All Armorpen classes want to be Orc T10, Rogue pre Armorpen wants Troll, Orc Hunter better early, Troll better in full BiS 3.3.5) Not sure if you still needed a full answer, I got 10+ years of Pserver exp and played every single spec throughout so I somewhat know my way.

Back in Vanilla Wotlk I did not had knowledge of how to farm money and I still raided a lot, did hc ICC and Ulduar. Not everything is based on how much gold you have. Just remember to have fun and enjoy the content.

Unless they changed things for the wrath classic. Holy priest is fine for pvp if the player knows their spec in and out and the fundamentals of pvp. If there newer then just roll disc.

ICC heroic is not difficult, ICC heroic lich king is the only thing that compares to anything in TBC. Unfortunately alot of players are just bad, STILL.

@@Muffnman007 Sunwell has proven to be pretty easy, wrath raiding will have a lot of pretty easy content but I would be shocked if things like yogg0, firefighter, PP hc are not more difficult than anything we've done in TBC. Guilds that are getting hardstuck on fights like M'uru will probably have no chance on these encounters.
