Nice video and a very honest review! I have a 2007 Highlander with the same 6-cylinder engine, and I'd love a 4th-gen 4 Runner for my hunting and especially for my KZbin channel. that said, trying to find one in good shape with around 100K on the clock is difficult! And from what I've seen, the V 8's are scarce! I have 198,000 miles on my Highlander, and I do take it off-road and over a small creek but don't do any rock climbing. I've hauled deer out on my carrier, and it's been a super reliable vehicle.

Thanks Ron. Nice channel - I just subbed. Your generation highlander is a fantastic vehicle and relatively capable off-road. You’re absolutely right that the V8 4Runners are pretty scarce. I found mine at 160,000 miles and now have about 200k miles on it. The V8’s run forever and ever, so don’t be deterred by higher mileage. Please do yourself and favor and check for frame rust if you decide to buy a fourth gen 4Runner. That is one thing that can and will kill even the best 4Runners.

@@4runner4summer Thanks for your reply and for subscribing! I've been struggling with getting to the 500 mark! I'm finally getting some traction. I may do a video on my Highlander once I break 200K. I'm the original owner, purchased it new when we lived in Maryland in 2008. I will definitely keep looking for a 4th gen 4 RNR. I"m on Bring a Trailer every day! PS There's a guy at my gun club who has 330 K on his Highlander, the same year!

@@boomerrangerron Anytime! I’d appreciate if you could subscribe as well, I’m in the process of creating more long-form 4Runner videos that you’d find useful. The Highlander is the extremely capable little-cousin of the 4Runner 😎 If you can, travel down south to buy a 4Runner to avoid the rust/frame rot!

I have a GX with 4.7 … with 95k miles head gasket failure… but I love the torque
@4runner4summer7 күн бұрын
@@marksarcevich9824 Great point. I didn’t mention this in the video, but if the 4.7 engine isn’t maintained properly, it can be susceptible to head gasket issues, similar to the 4.0 V6. However, the 4.7 V8 usually doesn’t have head gasket issues. This engine iteration is known as the “million mile engine.” Failure at 95k miles is EXCEEDINGLY rare.
