Another great video. Wish my Focus was that easy - when my water pump failed, I had to take off the timing belt, covers, wheel arch liner and the cocking engine mount before I could even begin on the pump. I got the whole kit (Gates) for under £100 but it took me a few hours.

Fantastic video, I was surprised this weekend with a completely seized water pump. It was noisy some days before that, but on engine start the other day I heard a loud belt whining noise and saw smoke coming from the engine compartment. Since we live in a cold climate it's not that uncommon to see, but I shut the engine off at once anyway. Just as I shut the engine off, the whining sound suddenly went away and the alternator light came on. Opened the bonnet, and sure enough, the belt was gone. :) The water pump was completely seized, and won't turn at all. Now all it has is a huge burn mark from where the rubber went over it.

Pål Unanue-Zahl Wow I haven't had a pump seize up for years. The last one was when there was no antifreeze and it had frozen. Hope the vid helps you.

Great video and also will help later Auris and Avensis with Valvematic engines as they use the same pump and belt. The belt adjustment system is one I am familiar with, as it was the same on my old Mk1 Avensis - I now own a Mk3 Avensis Tourer 1.8 Valvematic.

Just replaced the pump and the bearing was noisy, but not as bad as the one in your video and not leaking. I fitted a Meyle pump which came with three long bolts as the new pump has thick fitting points. I think some pumps don't come with bolts, so could leave you in a bit of bother. Check your old pump to see how thick it is before buying! Good job done.

A surprising amount of room to work in there. Nice job. I still get parts from GSF on this side of the world

Yes a nice straight forward water pump that one. That's nuts GSF deliver to NZ! They currently giving 48% off online orders with some code. Something about 12 days of Xmas. Don't know if it applies to international orders.

I have a nightmare with parts! I can buy direct from GSF but shipping gets complicated. Same with Eurocarparts. I have to use the New Zealand post redirection service so that they are delivered to a UK address and then reshipped over here. Takes about a week and adds to the cost but still cheaper than buying locally. Micksgarage ship here for a fixed rate and are my go to supplier. Last order arrived in 4 days which is crazy quick

Hie I need help on Toyota auris 200d rs 2008 diseal high pressure pump replacement, I have just replaced the pump, but the car is starting only with quick start and rave even for more than 5 minutes but the moment you remove your foot from the pedal it die down not idling at all

Did you have to bleed the cooling system after this? or is it ok to just refill with the coolant - Great Video.
@Boss-3132 жыл бұрын
Refill, leave cap off, allow temp to rise for thermostat to open and fan to kick in, top up coolant as air rises and level drops. Bobs your uncle, always recheck after a few hours of driving or next day for coolant level.

Did this on a 1.0 Yaris this year, same noise but not leaking fluid surprisingly. Loads of play in the bearing.

Is Metelli a good brand for waterpumps and tinmingkits? BTW good job. Keep up the good work!

Water pumps seem to be ok. Never used a timing belt kit, I like to use INA, or Gates timing kits

Great video, i have a smilarish sound on my 1.6 VVTI from 2008, it comes and goes, sometimes it sounds almost like this car, but when i rev it to about 4k rpm and let it go, the sound stops, but there is still a periodic sound all the time with the engine that sounds like a barring almost failing, it's most hearable up to 1800rpm, after that it "dissapears", unless it is sounding just like this car, the other day the car was sounding somewhat like this non stop, didn't matter if i red lined it, but when it cooled off it didn't have this sound. The sound is located to the same area as the water pump is, but is there any other stuffs down there that might cause a sound like this? I know that my AC was changed out by toyota just b4 i bought the car almost 1 year ago, but my idea is that the water pump is what i have issue with. Is there any idea to take of the belt and feel by hand on all stuffs to see if i can feel some lose barrings? or does it only work for the water pump like u did in the beginning of the video Thanks in advance btw!
@OneAuto4 жыл бұрын
Sure yes take the belt off and feel and spin the water pump, alternator, A/C and anything else driven by it.
