Actually if you're checking the oil level to make sure it's filled to the full mark on the dip-stick you should also make sure it's at operating temperature before you check it because if you fill it to the full mark and the engine is cold then it will be overfull when you warm up the engine to operating temperature. Oil does expand as it heats up. Toyota OEM oil filters are pre-lubed so there is no need to apply oil to them but it's good to mention it cause often aftermarket filters are often used.

yes you are right..as you can see in the video, the first oil dip stick check is not full after shuting down the engine, while waiting for the warm oil to settle down, I replace the air filter..then the second oil dipstick check the oil indicates full..and yes you are correct ,the OEM oil filter is pre-lubed and after market are not..thanks for watching..

That’s all I’ve been doing for 45 yrs and never a problem. Just make sure to use a crush washer and hand tighten as much you can till you can’t.

Been doing my own oil changes and working on my vehicle for near 50 years. He's right you hand tighten this kind of oil filter. Never had one leak or come loose.
