Toyota Camry Panoramic roof woes part 2

Hey, appreciate it for posting this video I was able to take apart the sunroof but for me my sun shade is stuck and won't move. This sun shade is also preventing the blades to fold close. Haven't fold any damage with the folding blades just oil and dust. I think the belt for it is broken, spent all day trying to see if there was anything stuck but nothing. Guess I'll try again tomorrow and see if I can remove the motor cover. I'll keep this update and see what I find, I'm also near Virgina Beach.

@@InzombieackAj I’m at sea on a ship til Sunday… what makes you think the belt (more like a plastic chain) is broken? To gain access to it you’ll need to drop the headliner. Does it move at all? What do you mean by “blades to fold closed”? Are you talking about the arms / sliding rail assembly that connects the front glass to the panoramic roof frame? The sunshade is on a spool, how far open / closed is it in its range of motion that it is stuck? If it is past the midway point moving to the front of the car closing the sunroof can be done manually with the glass of… wouldn’t feel comfortable trying to write out how to do it but I could show you how if you’re local… you’re only the second person I’ve encountered with this shade issue… it doesn’t malfunction very often… the plastic drive chains usually only break from holding the button and letting it continuously click / pop… if it just snapped that’s messed up… look me up on Facebook - Nick Prescott and shoot me a DM

@@prescottn6ft7 Alright no problem I'll find you online. Yes I'm talking about the sliding rail it's completely locked in the tilt postion. The sunshade is all the way open, the motor just runs and doesn't do anything, it tries to moves the shade cover but only an inch. I was able to lower the headliner, and access the motors connections, I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting. before this happend it did click and may of have popped when this happend. Thanks again for responding back so quickly, I'll keep you updated.

@@InzombieackAj if you dropped the headliner already… when you’re look out the rear glass from inside the car the shade motor is on your left (passenger side)… you will not damage anything unplugging the electrical connector and removing the 10mm bolts to drop it… you will know immediately when you pull it down whether the plastic drive belt or the motor are broken… if it’s the motor I have spares… if it’s the drive belt… there’s options … cross that bridge later…

I did what he instructed and worked perfect. Place plenty of take on the headliner. Make sure to remove both plastics on each side of the inner roof. Clean nicely and MAKE SURE to reprogram your roof when you glass is off. Close your roof, hold and Push you close cover button forward. Count to 10 and the roof will be gin its cycle. Don’t let go till it’s completed and tilt roof to install your glass. Make sure not to tighten you 6 screws and push your class forward and down with one hand and tighten the screw with the other. Put plastics back on and done. Thanks boss for the information and assuring this is a possible fix.

At 7:26 - my GF has a 2021 XSE with this sunroof. The bright silver piece has a peg on it. This piece is supposed to be in the front of the glass, but the passenger side is in the rear of the rail. The driver's side is in the front still attached to the glass. The glass is stuck in the position you have it in now tilted up. We had a tropical storm come through that wet the entire inside of the car. The weather tech mats were filled with water. I don't understand why Toyota thinks it's ok to buy a $40k+ car with a defective sunroof that will malfunction in 3 years, then say it will cost $8k to replace. 😐

@@prescottn6ft7 the car is located on the west coast of Florida. When you say you can fix it, is that a permanent fix? What would your cost be?

@@PANTYEATR1 too far for me, but you need to take the glass off, and then take the rail assemblies apart… THEN … do a button sequence re-sync take both to full open… from there should be able to reassemble the rails once their back in unison.

@@marcalvarado3225 there I no way to reattach it by screw or bolt … you need to use an adhesive

Just happened to me 1/1/24 . its only on the vent position and when trying to close the sunroof it makes a cracking noise and only the passenger ( right side ) moves. any idea to what is making it stuck ?? all of my bolts are there .

@@morad20-y2l no… if they try and tell you, it’s not covered under warranty I can show you about 200+ threads of folks who have had it replaced under warranty on the Facebook page that I am one of the moderators for this model Camry

@@jesseabrilruelas pretty sure you found me on FB, but for any who read this… there are now service parts available from Toyota… its buy the whole assembly or nothing at all… eBay is the only source I’ve found for parts as junk yards are reluctant to sell just pieces unless they know it’s hosed. Local machine shops are your best best for parts you can’t make yourself

When I'm clocking my moon roof I hear a noticeable click then it's closing at a certain point. Can you help?

@@shaakhan3344 sorry I haven’t been on KZbin in a while. If you’re hearing a noticeable click that almost sounds like a pop coming from the rear end of the car you’ve 100% got something wrong. You need to take a look at before it exacerbates and becomes a huge problem. You’re lucky that it’s still closing most likely one of the25 torque bits that hold the rail assembly to the glass and the sliding rail is either loose or there is a piece of debris in the track that is not big enough to completely jam the system, but it is causing an issue
