kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y57SpYafrNmperM Honestly, I dont think Aston will leave F1, as its done a huge amount for their business and car sales. People are talking about the brand for the first time in years, and the f1 team has become an integral part of their identity. I think its more likely for the Aston to stay than leave even if lance goes to WEC with the team, and even if he does he will probably stay as a development driver or something, with Lawrence Stroll still retaining a stake in the team.

As an American I’d love to see Toyota powertrain in a Haas. I sold cars for 34 years 20 of them w Toyota. They are undoubtedly the most reliable on the market. Not to mention Toyota’s Gazoo racing success at every venue they enter. WEC, Dakar, IMSA etc.

Unless Toyota abandon the previous Japanese model done by them and predecessors it will fail like last time, the other series it has done well in are significantly less competitive and with the budget cap they would have to outsmart rather than outspend like they could do in others.

Yeah Lexus and Toyota are at the very top of lists such as JD Power, reliability aso, I drive BMW and I am glad they have pulled themselves together lately and really left the worst of the unreliability behind, still a way to go up to Toyota, for sure. More shocking is the turn Honda taken lately, Ford too, Audi almost at the very bottom in the 2024 list last I checked, not that they have been any good last 5 years but really sunk

Honda may have rushed to Aston, to keep momentum going, having decided to stay in the sport, and have a capable works team to work with. Bunch of Red Bull friends there already. Aston isn't THE biggest car brand, but making powertrains for their cars, gas, hybrid and electric, wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Honda has also been in and out multiple times. If Mercedes don't start fighting for championships again soon they could question the benefit of being in F1. BMW came and went pretty quick. Audi may do the same if they don't get the results and Sauber might be forced to buy his team back yet again. Ford are only sort of coming back and last time they were in F1 using the Jaguar name they didn't stay long anyway. GM might not last long before selling the team to Andretti. None of the big auto brands are going to stay in F1 if it isn't economically viable and generally speaking motor racing isn't profitable. That's why they have all pulled out in the past.

If Toyota, or any other Japanese company enters as a full on works team, they will fail just like before, unless they can restructure the way the F1 team is ran. The culture in the Japanese companies does not mend well with the fast paced, "todays thing is already 3 months outdated compared to what the factory is working on" F1 world. It has proven itself in the past. Honda, more than once had a works team. The engine department did great things, but the race team could never keep up. Toyota, one time, and it did not work out. Both companies bowed out, kind of in ruin. Brawn bought Honda F1 for something like $1. The culture doesnt allow for fast, out of the box thinking.

When we cannot have good competition, the solution is always try to fake it until it sticks, let's be honest who really want 50% electrification, really? We can all the lovely noise burning Ethanol, way simpler engines where everyone can have a chance at making a somewhat competitive package, now we wait 4-5 years for everyone who got things wrong to catch up, when everything is finally tight between multiple top teams at least, yeah that's right we move on again, reboot, leave many behind when 1 team get it right, be that RBR, Mercedes or anyone else I don't care. Think of it, what is after 50% electrification , really ask yourselves naturally what comes after this? Unless we back track and get it right, this a sport of emotions, live it used to be smell, noise, racing..
