Just saw this video. I wish I could of seen this and been there to help you. I’m a forklift mechanic and I will say this. Way to much work to pull cylinders out. No need to pull carriage off. If you would of raised mast all the way up then chain bottom of the cross support to top of mast would of been easier. After that undo top of secondary cylinders and lower. Undo mounts and slide cylinders out.

Hey Ben, I’m in the process of replacing the seals on one of the outer cylinders. I’m new to this but mechanically inclined and have tools for the job. My question is how to remove the cylinder for proper repair? Only thing I have managed is to remove the forks lol.
@SGTBen20165 жыл бұрын
Kap Partier it depends on the type of lift it is. They’re all different.

I actually just did a job where I had to rebuild both secondary lift cylinders. Start to finish of job was 2 hours.

Ben Strange its a Toyota life. I can get the model number off of it if you like. I was able to get the gland off but im stuck on how to remove the cylinder or even just replace the seals
@SGTBen20165 жыл бұрын
Kap Partier the cylinder just comes out. To replace seals you will need to use seal removal tools. They look like picks but are flat and won’t scratch chroming on cylinder.

Big job! Hope that steel in the system hasn't done any damage to the pump. Im sure you already do but maybe have a few extra filters on hand so you can change it a few hours in after the fix to make sure all the contamination is out. Thanks for sharing!

The job was not too bad, other than it took quite a few days to complete, and it was in the way the whole time.

On some hyraulic tanks there is a magnet on the drain plug to catch any metal

Not on ours, I checked. Never dawned on me to put a magnet in the bottom when I had the top off.

There is a regulator that controls how the mast functions. It could be dirty or faulty. Most Toyota Service departments will answer basic questions for free. Good luck.

No way to get the cylinders out without removing the entire front ? 1 by 1 ? Ive repaired 1 Tilt Cylinder on our company's Toyota. I need to do the Right Lift seal. Also looks like im going to have to do the steering seals too both of them. Any tips to maybe speed any of those up.??

After doing the entire repair, I’d do it the same way again. I still was quicker than what the “Professional “ mechanic said it would take. Good luck

Those hydraulic systems can be troublesome. I hope your expenses were manageable. Vandals caused me to operate/damage a D4H for about 8 hrs. one day (hand full of sand/small gravel), but $10,000+ and one week later I had it going again....with new pump, flushing, controls, etc. Thanks for the video. ….13

Bummer your D4 got damaged by idiots. Our damage is a lot less than yours. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Sometimes it is cheaper to pay up. Repairs to hydraulic system not for inexperienced. At minimum you should have service manual, would have known right from beginning don't need another lift truck to remove carriage. Worked for Toyota many years as field mechanic one thing I hated the most was following some one who had no clue and had to correct his mess. How could you be saving doing it yourself did I hear you say you have 3 forklifts? Guess what you have 2 not in production right now. Gd luck

Thanks for stopping by to watch and comment. We did have the local dealer take the truck back to their shop for Roll Back Cylinder rebuilds recently.

Sounds like the pump is blowing up sending metal throughout the system
@VideosByAl6 жыл бұрын
The pump sounded fine when this happened. So it was basic cylinder failure.
@jesusrojos2135 жыл бұрын
Remplace all the oil and filter to and check you pump for any noise sound you put all the oil thanks for showing normally is 3600 dll service from Toyota you save money plus the cylinder road need to be replace
