Toyota Fuel Door Spring Fix (Dont Get Stranded)

If your Toyota fuel door spring is not working we go over two ways how to fix it in this video. Both are DIY options, the first is if your fuel door wont open or your gas door wont open and you need to refill quickly. You can jam something (sock or sandal) in this video under the latch and then go over and pry the door open with a key. That will help you how to open your toyota fuel door when it wont open in order to pump gas and not be stranded. The second way we actually replace the little broken toyota fuel door hinge spring. Its cheap and very easy.

Thanks for a great tip. On my older Highlander, the spring had flattened out and wouldn’t open the filler door. Fortunately someone else was at the gas station, and saw I was having trouble and offered to open the filler door while I was pulling the lever. Your solution is what I really needed to know. Just look in your owners manual in the fuel filler section. Most trunks have an hidden compartment that you can pull a lever or string which manually pops the fuel door open. (This video method doesn't work on newer cars that have a push button to open the gas door.)

A little nub of plastic broke off in the blue area so I put a piece of thick velvet sticky back on the other area and that fixed it. the pressure of the door being closed will hold the thick velvet in place. cost. 0$ sorry had a picture drawn out 😅
