For the record, the 2004 Prado 3.0 GX came standard with limited slip diffs front and back and a central diff lock, all activated and controlled by the traction control system. I hate the idea of electronics taking over control, but this particular system was very good indeed, and provided just the right measure of electronic assistance. So no need for air-lockers on the standard Prado.

good vid. gotta love the lockers.
@ztwntyn811 жыл бұрын
Yeah, my 4x4 will do that. 91 K5 Blazer 350/5.7 stock save for the 33" tires. Factory locker in back and open front diff. All you do with the open front is hold the brake, apply power and it acts similar to a locker but I rarely need it cos of the weight and short wheelbase. Your setup is good though imo.
@anysailer11 жыл бұрын
What an enjoyable 12 minutes that was. You have a very nicely set up Land Cruiser and what a lovely bit of terrain. In 2010 I had the privilege of spending a year working on a mine in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, and the terrain that we had to travel during the average work day looked pretty much like the terrain you covered here and worse, so I got a lot of practice in my 2004 Toyota Prado 3.0 diesel (the indestructible KZTE engine) GX - 5 speed manual. Except for an Old Man Emu lift kit and uprated shocks (also OME) which gave it about a 3cm lift, the vehicle was stock standard. I ran BFG All Terrains and never got stuck. A colleague owned a 2007 Landcruiser 200 with all the bells and whistles, and I found it also very capable indeed, however I still felt more in control and in touch with the environment in the Prado (I imagine that's pretty much how you must feel in your rig). I suppose the fancy electronics does rob one of some of the fun. Anyway, one would think that we would be sick of driving off-road by the week end, but come the weekend we still went out and found new unexplored paths to play around on.

Do not hate on Cheap auto lockers I have Front Aussie locker in my Jeep it cost me $250 plus $55 to ship to Aus. It has been more than worth it making the vehicle more than 4 times more capable and it was very capable without it. Its in a Dana 30 and i have drove it hard with 33s never had a problem with it. If i could of got a detroit locker i would of its just the money having a front Detroit and a rear ARB would be my way to go

Adding front lockers to the GU or GQ Nissan Patrol, and with the same tyres and suspension lift as the 105 series Cruiser in this video (or 100 series for that matter) and there is no place the Cruiser will go where the Patrol won't at least match it.

Nice truck. Just wondering if the 105 did come with a 3-locker option from the factory. This variant is definitely way better offroad than the A-trac equipped v8 100, and should run neck to neck with a 200.
@norwester701810 жыл бұрын
It's better then the 200... Solid axles and full mechanical lockers in the right hands will ALWAYS be better then trac-control and brake based systems. No real driver needs that "crawl control" either, The 200's a great truck simply because it's a Toyota, but next to a 105 or a 70-series its really not as "Bush Worthy" as they are.
