Good question. I see it on some of these transaxles. If there is a vent it will be high on the transaxle and often found on the upper housing where the shifter goes into the transaxle. It normally has a metal rocker cap that lets the trans vent but prevents the entry of water and road dirt.

Do these transmissions have a vent valve? if so, where is it located? having a hard time trying to find it, replaced the oil on mine (a c154 very similar) and as I removed the pin to fill it up it let out some pressure, making me think it´s not venting properly. Great video, very informative and detailed.

Your videos are very informative. Can you tell me how much free play is acceptable at the shifter mechanism?
@DrivelineMaster Жыл бұрын
Are you asking about the shifter lever on the transaxle or at the shifter in the vehicle? At the transaxle the lever should have about 0.010" + or - 0.003".
@Laszcar Жыл бұрын
@@DrivelineMaster On the transaxle. Mine is maybe higher, but I will check it. I just held the arms what the cables are connected and tried to move them. Was it a correct method? What could be the reasons in a C52's case?
@DrivelineMaster Жыл бұрын
You need to disconnect the cables from the shifter lever in order to feel the free play. Some models have an adjustment and some don't. This is not a high wear area if there is too much play. If there is no adjustment you might have as much as 0.125" and it Could be OK. If it feels like your shifter inside the vehicle has too much play in it the cause is often in the shifter under the center counsel or in the cable bushings.

Hi friend I like your video but I have a cuestion.were I can find the main bearing of the ç52 non of the auto parts in north Carolina has them
@DrivelineMaster2 жыл бұрын
Short of trying the dealer this would be a specialty item that your going to have to search the internet for. If you have the bearing out it may have a number on it that can be cross referenced. Also look for a bearing specialty shop in your area. Give them that number and they may be able to help. Good luck.

Hi, I've got a quick question regarding the shifter. I thought I had the shifter in neutral when removing it, it wasn't. So it had. A spring force on it, noticing that i quickly tightened and put in neutral for removal of the shifter. Since then I have noticed that shifting in to fifth gear, i can 'over-place' my shift knob, basically passing 5th Gear so to speak. Could i have caused that by not correctly putting it in neutral before removing the shifter? Or is there something else going on? I am also at the point of replacing my throw-out bearing since I have noticed a slight rattle noise at 3k rpm. Heard that it also could have something to do with input-shaft/fifth gear assembly. Any way to check if that is the case? Sorry for the many questions but am a bit lost on what has been going on with my tranny
@DrivelineMaster2 жыл бұрын
If you did not force on the shifter to remove it because it was not in neutral you should not have damaged anything with the shifter assembly. If it was force you may have damaged something causing your problem. If you are removing the trans for other problems you can take the shifter out and inspect it for bent or broken parts. You could have other shifter linkage problems that can cause what you are describing. Even motor and trans mounts or a misaligned engine cradle can cause shifter problems. Did you take the transmission apart past removing the shifter? If you had this apart there are other factors in 5th gear that could cause your problem. A slight rattle at 3K is not a typically symptom of a throw out bearing. You might have something else going on.

oil capacity?
@DrivelineMaster10 ай бұрын
I could look it up but it's simple. After installed into the vehicle fill it up until oil trickles out the fill hole. Just make sure the vehicle is relatively level.

@@DrivelineMaster what’s different? I’m doing a rebuild/overhaul on a c53 for a 1995 Toyota Celica GT and haven’t been able to find much on it
@DrivelineMaster11 ай бұрын
All of my resources say that your celica should have either a C52 for the 1.8L engine or the S54 for the 2.2L engine. check out this video to identify the difference between the C and S series transaxles. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHPVkHtnrryojtEsi=FANpJ3vUgE7_M3Zx
