Seeing only the 5kw version for about $2500. Was the 3kw version being sold at the time you bought yours? Curious as to the price. I'm not looking for 240v, just 120v will do fine on a transfer switch to essential 120VAC circuits (power to gas furnace blower, 120AC/12VDC transformer for the gas hot water heater, lights, fridge). There's a pure sine wave PowMr 5000 Watt Solar Inverter for $800 whose wide DC range from PV (photovoltaic solar array) is 120VDC to 500VDC. The prius drive battery voltage range is 160VDC to 200VDC. This inverter doesn't care if the DC is coming from a solar array or prius drive battery. $2500 I'd just get a dedicated gas generator for less tho it's less efficient than the prius adkinson engine.

Hello what is the DC in Voltage on the inverter? if you are going directly to the hybrid battery then is has to be 346 VDC or is it attaching internally to get for ex 48 Vdc?

Thanks for making this vid for us. Does the transformer only change the 110v AC into 240v AC? If I only want to use 110v AC power, could I eliminate the transformer?
@TheHybridGuy3 жыл бұрын
Hi Boda, The transformer will do 240 and 110 at the same time. Up to 5kW. On this system you need the transformer or you could get the inverter and find a smaller transformer that would work.

Does this void the cars warranty?
@zdw3063 жыл бұрын
It's my understanding that if the car has a NiMh traction battery then the max output is 3,500watts, but if the car has an upgraded Lithium HV battery or was designed with the Lithium HV battery then it can supply up to 5,000watts.
@TheHybridGuy3 жыл бұрын
Correct! This particular system is the 5kW system and we will be testing its capacity.
@TheHybridGuy3 жыл бұрын
That is a great point, and yes up to 5kW

What's the idle consumption and what's the standby consumption?
@TheHybridGuy3 жыл бұрын
Car consumes about 110w when on-Ready. Inverter about 15w when on. Transformer 1-2w. That’s idle and standby.

hey hybrid guy, i have following quations 1- Can you charge the prius battery ? 2- can you use prius 2nd gen (2004-2009as a short range ( 20-30 km ) plug in hybrid kind a thing ? 3- the nex llifepo4 cells which you add to prius in the other video . Can you add more cells to prius in parallel and then add a charger/socket kind a thing ? please anwer i wait. thanks

You can with the right setup.

Thanks for the demo 👍🏻. I’m looking for a used car that I can use for backup power. Inverter initially, maybe with the Plugout eventually. Prius or Highlander both good choices?
@TheHybridGuy3 жыл бұрын
Both are great choices. It will work with either platform

What's the idle consumption with the transformer disconnected?

I have not tested this just yet, I will in the following videos. I also have the LiFePo battery upgrade in my Prius which gives me much more run time.
