Steve, Thank You so much for this amazing video. I have a 2019 Toyota Avalon. Twice I've had it to Toyota service dept. First time they charged me over $100.00 to keep my car overnight and do a diagnostic test. They could find nothing. Last week I again went to Toyota dealership to try to get the RCD unavailable warning fixed. Guy sat in my car 10 minutes then told me he could not fix it. He advised I bring it in for another diagnostic check. I walked out came home researched this and found your video. Why aren't service departments aware of this?? Yet, they don't mind charging me $$$$$$$ to do another "diagnostic test" I have another problem I wish you had a video on. My cars battery is draining to the point I have to jumpstart it almost every time. I have been to 3 different locations to have it checked. Both battery and alternator are both fine. Do you have any idea why my car battery. keeps draining? Everything is shut off no lights left on etc. Thanks again for solving the RCD unavailable problem!!😊

Thanks Steve for the prompt reply. Regarding battery draining. My car has 33,000 miles on it. Wouldn't you think after having it overnight at a Toyota Dealership service dept. they would have found the issue? But said they found nothing wrong? And wanted me to bring it in again for an overnight diagnostic test more $$$$ I have lost confidence in this particular dealership. In the past year I have had to jumpstart my car at least 30 times. @@stevenwelchtoyota Thanks for all your help. After having it overnight for diagnostic check at Toyota Dealership they could find nothing wrong. Except to tell me a possible parasitic draw. Three different service shops checked out battery/alternator, both checked to be okay. On your advice took car in to have ground cable, corrosion checked. Nothing was found, all were good.. After having to jumpstart my car every single time in the past month I traded it off. Disappointed in Toyota as far as service, reliability, etc. Have been a Toyota customer for over 40 plus years. I traded off for a Lexus NXH 2024, Happy I have a reliable vehicle finally. Thanks again for all your information you have helped a lot of people. You are more knowledgeable than the people who work in the service departments. The one guy sat in my car over 15 minutes trying to figure out why RCD Unavailable warning was on and he couldn't remove it His solution bring it in for another diagnostic test. LOL!! Through your video I was able to solve the problem. But then every time the battery died it would cause the RCD Unavailable warning signal to come back on. Keep up the good work, Steve! I just had the same issue after having to change out a dead car battery. When I googled it, I saw one fix before finding this video. It said to crank the car up and turn your steering wheel all the way to your left and hold for 2 seconds, then turn all the way to your right and do this same thing and this also corrected the problem without having to mess with the light switch and the buttons on the touch screen. Was more of a simple fix. Thanks Wayne

Wow! Thank you so very much. My battery died causing the warning signs to light up. This helped a lot. Did it twice to make sure my steering was lined up. Should have know something was up when I picked the car up. It lit up and it took them all about 15 minutes to clear it. Would have been nice if they told me my battery was about to crap out.

How about an intermittent black screen when backing. If it comes on it stays on with all lines active but may or may not work upon the next backing. I’ve pulled and looked over the wiring looms in the trunk and removed the camera to check the pins and receptacles. Everything looks good but it’s still acting up. The car did get a 20 mph T- Bone accident around the time it began ( crushed the rear door sill , door and wheel on pax side ) 😅though I see no wiring damage in any of the looms or plugs. Any ideas, this one has me stumped. I’m thinking of yanking it again ( PITA) and checking continuity on each of the wires between all 3 plugs in the trunk region. I am stumped 🫣
