Sorry but you should research more before making a video. HONDA does include lane assist which works better than Toyota as I own both. Honda keeps you in lane and lane assist exists on even Honda Civic 2017 (what I own).

The reason LaneWatch is only for the passenger side is because the intent was to keep the road in one's field of vision while also being able to see the right side blind spot. When one sets up their mirrors correctly, there is no blind spot on the driver's side when using the rearview and driver's sideview mirrors. When looking in the driver's sideview mirror, one can still see the road, so there is no need to put a camera in the driver's sideview mirror.

i remember my 88 honda accord hatchback doesn't come with drivers side mirror bc its not really necessary because you're already driving on the left side , all you gotta do is turn and look over your shoulder.

What you are calling an autopilot capability such as Toyota's lane tracing assist is similar to Honda's lane keep assist. You combined Honda's road departure mitigation (RDM) and lane keep assist system (LKAS) into one and mentioned only the RDM feature. So Honda in a way does have a autopilot capability like Toyota.

He’s getting dragged in these comments. Indeed, Honda does have a great Lane Keep Assist in that 2022 Civic. It’s actually precise, and doesn’t ping-pong in the lane.

A few things you need to fix, Honda lane keep assist does not in fact bounce you around in the lane like you said the Toyota did. It keeps you centered in the lane without looking like a drunk driver. Also, those features aren’t just on the highest trim, the blind spot and rear cross traffic alert comes on other trims on the accord as well. You should do more research before posting false information.

toyota doesn't put blind spot monitoring or the cross traffic on the reverse cam on their cheapest models of the corolla or camry. I just bought a 2023 camry. and there was several LE's that didn't have those features. I bought an upgraded LE that had a "special" color red and had the upgraded safety features and a push button starter, but it cost me about an extra $3,000.

Video is a bit old but Toyota definitely does not make blind spot monitoring standard on all cars. On the Prius Prime, only the top level trim has blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert (have to shell out $7K compared to the base trim). Kind of funny they did that when a near entry level regular Prius (non Prime) has those safety features. Also, Toyota with Safety Sense 2.0 do have road sign recognition (Road Sign Assist) so a good portion of cars with that version of Safety Sense or newer will probably have that capability.

My 2023 Camry XSE V6 has Toyota Sense 2.5 Plus. When cruise control is on the radar keeps me at a relatively safe distance while driving on the highway. Works best when highway traffic is not congested. Lane-keeping Assist is annoying, especially when you want to change lanes it gives a slight tug/nug trying to keep you in the same lane, best to turn it off. Curve Assist, when on the highway when there is a slight curve and as you turn the steering wheel you lose MPH so going 70 MPH, and as you barely turn the wheel your speed drops to like 65 MPH, you can feel that drag or slow down in the wheel, another item you should reduce sensitivity or turn it off. I do like automatic high beams, unfortunately, the other guy might get blinded as response time can be slow to return to low beams. Blind Spot Monitoring - Traffic Alert is good, but for vehicles with their headlights turned on and within 100 to 150 feet behind you in the other lane, the warning indicator on the door-side mirror will light up. For the most part, these warning/alert safety features are okay. Just don't heavily rely upon or trust them. My wife's 2022 Honda Civic Touring as for Honda Sensing really stinks in comparison to Toyota, actually, the only thing that appears to work is Speed Sign Recognition and everything else is a failure. Everyone hates Honda's Idle-Stop. Honda's Driver Attention Monitor uses the Steering Wheel for any motion being conducted by the driver with their hand on the wheel. If the wheel becomes dormant it will illuminate the Coffee symbol even though it won't be seen by the sleeping driver, then it is too late as the driver crashes into a pole or tree or ravine and is dead. The Civic Touring does not have HUD which is really nice on my 2023 Camry XSE V6. Guess you have to get the Honda Accord Touring for HUD. Toyota now offers Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 in several 2023 models but more gadgets are not always better. Need to go back to basics ... Keep It Simple Stupid aka KISS. Anyways, Honda Sensing is worthless. The cost to repair these gadgets is very expensive this is why the cost of a new car is an extra $5k to $8K. A so-called Premium Sound System which it is not but only the Brand Name cost you another $2K. A Moon Roof or Panoramic Roof you do not need is another $1,200 to $3K, and the cheap Alloy Wheels are another $1,500, the mediocre and usually unsafe tires are another $1,200. Start adding all these things up, instead of a $35K car it could be had for $20K. I wonder how long my LED Headlights and the other LED lights will last? Probably cost a fortune to replace a blown LED segment.

These are great safety features and have probably contributed to a decrease in accidents. I like the lane watch feature on the Honda, but it should also work for the driver side. I find the lane keeping assist a little annoying, because sometimes it will detect lines of tar on pavement that was recently patched and will try to steer the car all over the place. Another drawback to these safety features is that they aaree extremely complex systems that would cost a fortune to fix when needed.

I prefer a system that does not disengage should you ignore the warnings to put your hands back on the wheel like Tesla and Nissan Propilot have, they both slow the car down to a complete stop, put the park brake on and activate the hazard lights with the Nissan even doing things like hard braking lots of warnings to try and get you to wake up. And before anyone comes up with a snarky comment medical events do happen and those systems can save both this car and the possible car it hits in an accident.

I can't speak to the Honda, but my Rav4 actually dialed the Toyota Safety Center after we hit a deer on a 75mph highway. They then called 911 so the police and EMS could get out to us. Thankfully, since the deer his the car in the front, the engine compartment absorbed the impact. RIP Rav4 and Mr. Deer, but we're ok.

Thanks for your excellent videos. I have a question. Most recent cars have collision protection using a camera, and generally radar sensors also. I often hear that these systems cannot function in heavy weather because the camera cannot see. But what about the radar sensors? Can they see through heavy rain and snow, or do they have the same limitations as the cameras? Thanks

Please make a video comparing between Subaru Eyesight, Mazda i-active sense, and Toyota Safetysense 2.5. I am confused between Subaru forester and Mazda Cx-5 because of this safety sense issue. While Subaru eyesight is based only on two front-facing cameras without any radar it does have better reviews than the Mazda i-activesense which employs radar cruise control in addition to camera.

Hyundai Tucson 2022 lane centering assist is much much better than the Toyotas highlander 2022, not sure what the rav 4has if it’s 2.0 or 5.0 but these are the only two cars I have to test and Hyundai does better on faded lines & turns. I let the Tucson drive 80% of my rides vs about 30% on the highlander. Haven’t had the chance to try the safety sense or copilot 360 but fords copilot seems to be the most promising with their over the air updates like Tesla

I've rented a Honda Accord, Honda HR-V, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Prius, Toyota RAV4 and Toyota Camry. I found that the Hondas break really hard unnecessarily while doing Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) but the Toyotas adapt smoothly. The best of breed where the Toyotas (though the Camry seemed less good than the others). Honda's software is too aggressive when it doesn't need to be. Lane keeping felt the best in the RAV4. The Corolla Sport I drove recently was a dream in stop and go traffic, I've never enjoyed stop and go so much in my life. In Honda it feels dangerous. It's a pity because I like Hondas a lot.

At intersections where cars are stopped at the light, if the car in front of me that the system is sensing, pulls out of the way, my Honda accelerates and tries to crash me into them. Having driven for 50+ years in a variety of cars and trucks, manual and automatic transmission, these new safety features are initially distracting. For instance, when backing up, the rear backup camera is confusing as I back up using the side and rear mirrors as I have all these years. The Collision Mitigating Braking System also throws false alerts. When these alerts light up on the dash, it can be distracting and worrisome if you're not aware of the safety sensing features. All in all though, it's the old dog who needs to learn new tricks and these safety features are a good thing and may prevent injury caused by an accident like the seat belts have over the years.

Now as a new driver, I am thinking of buying Honda Civic Touring or Mazda CX 30 GS (Mid-level trim) which both have advanced safety features but not sure which one is better for a new driver. Some say CX 30 is better as it has a higher seat position and others say Civic is the better option as it has better/more safety features/handling than CX 30 GS trim and ride height is not a concern. Confused.

Both are good vehicles and safety features equivalent. Mazda advantages are available all wheel drive, NA engine and conventional automatic. Civic Touring is a 1.5T with a CVT but will probably have better resale value. Both should be very reliable. An extended test drive should solve your quandary.

Learn how to adjust your outboard (side) mirrors correctly, 90% of drivers don’t, having them adjusted for parking only, NOT driving. If done so, basically adjusted far outward, reflected images will not overlap in your center mirror and your blind spot is almost eliminated.

I have driven a 2020 civic across 4 states and drove a toyota prius prime as a rental (probably a 2022 xle), and i could not disagree with this video more. I could not trust the toyota with the lane keep assist, as it took rigid control of the wheel and disengaged when I applied any correcting force. The Honda will guide you to the center of the lane, and could also follow a curve. I could never get the confidence in the toyota to leave the lane keep assist on, since I was uncomfortable with how close it would come to oncoming traffic, and would disengage if i touched the wheel.

That is great that Toyota and Honda push these safety standards up forcing the rest of the bunch (car manufacturers) to follow! My 2014 JDM Toyota Harrier is equipped with TSS version which cut-down variant was offered in the US as TSS-P. IMO the car industry lawmakers need to shift and broaden their focus not only on ecology requirements but on active safety featurest too! We've got Euro 6 now and the emission ratings improved immensly (though negatively impacting reliability and we are paying for it), however, not a lot required in terms of safety. And not a single active safety feature in the requirement list. E.g. here in New Zealand the only safety feature required for a fresh imported car is the ESC (Electronic Stability Control). That's it. I guess these requirements are so relaxed just to keep the overpriced european manufacturers in the business...

This technology just makes lazy, bad drivers worse. Videos that talk about driving with your hands of the wheel don't help. A drivers hands should never be off the wheel, just like the lengthy instructions outline, however we all know that almost no one actually reads these instructions. I for one call these system driver annoyance or driver interference systems. When you are driving you should be driving, not texting, not eating bowl of cereal, not putting on makeup, not reading a book ... all things I have observed drivers doing while driving ...
