Wow, never would have thought the location for lowering the spare was so far inside! Thanks!!

Glad it helped, yeah it's hard to know exactly where everything and how it works without seeing or doing it. We took our jack out also just to test it because we'd never had to use it.

Wish they made it as simple as the first gen. So dumb the way they did this. Thanks for the video

What size tire do you have down there? I am planning to go up to 285/70/18 nitto recons (true dims: 33.7" diameter and 11.5" width). I really hope it will fit down there. Also debating if I should get the same exact wheel for the spare or just get a 18x9 cheap steel rims.

We chose Cooper Discoverer 275/70 R18 tires which are a 33.16 inch tire. With our Ready Lift they for great.

@@OffRoadDiscovery thanks, did you get a new rim for the spare or did the vehicle come with that rim? Oddly mine has 20" narrower spare rim down there ( 255/70/20). Vehicle came equipped with 18" rim with 275 65 18 tires.

@@kirkhamster0024 we bought a used tire the same size off kijiji and it came with a rim.

My 2008 5.7l sequoia hit 213k trouble free miles today. I’ve never gotten a flat. I was curious if there was any videos haha.

Fortunately, we haven't had one either but thought we'd show how to get the tire because honestly (wife here) I didn't have a clue and I'm often on my own with the kids!

Well, I don't know how I screwed this up on my Sequoia, but it didn't go nearly as smoothly as what you showed. I slid the hooked end into the hole, and tried to turn it. Got some tension, but then it seemed to break free. Felt the spare tire, and it was a little wobbly... meaning that it was loosened up. I kept turning the bar hoping to lower the tire, and the hooked end snapped off! My Sequoia is 5 years old and not from the rust belt. Not sure what happened, but I'm not a fan of this set up.

That's unfortunate, hopefully, you can find a new rod/hook easily and next time it's not such a pain.

Here's a question for the group: My 2015 Sequoia Platinum model has 20" tires as std equip. The spare is an 18" mini spare for some reason. Can I replace the mini with a full sized 20" tire? I'm concerned about a full sized spare tire not fitting in the spare storage area. Looks a bit tight under there. Thanks!
@OffRoadDiscovery Жыл бұрын
We have a full-sized spare tire that matches the size of our vehicle. We have a Limited, I'm not sure how the spare will fit in your Platinum (if it's any different) but would be very interested to hear how it goes!

@@OffRoadDiscoveryThanks for the comment. I’ll try to replace the mini when I get a chance. Just curious-is your tire size 18 or 20 inches?
@OffRoadDiscovery Жыл бұрын
@@RaguSam1000 tires have a diameter of about 3 inches and a wheel diameter of 18 inches

No it's not gone! And has been problem free. Anything in particular you'd like to see?
