An easier way of doing this is to just flip the axle and round out the back(or front side) of the diff housing and put the 3rd back in the right way or upsidedown of how it was (i seen that done on fabn801 on a mini rock crawler)

Best to get a Dana 44 driver drop or t100 TC.

I have. 99'.4runner 4wd 4:10 gears. picked up 98' 4runner 4wd elocker 4:30. .. can I take my rear 4:10 gears and put in the locker axel, then put that axel on my truck.? to keep my truck running 4:10 with e locker

Brilliant :), I just dont have the toold to do this :(. I may either chop my 85 axle or just go with a manual T100 right side drop trans/transfer case. How much do you think a shop would charge to chop and flip an axle?

mantis garage U wouldn't have to modify the axle shafts at all u just move them sides So if the short shaft was on passenger side it will know be put onto the driver side But I do have a question how did u perfectly cut the housing I know with a chop saw in the video but did u make a jig or what but I'm doing the same thing right now very cool thing to do

There is a easier way to do this... :) Rotate the knuckles 180 degrees and turn the housing upside down.

@@riskyricky22 You flip the third as well, all the studs align. You may also need to cut the back cover off and flip it. It's the easier way for sure and with less alignment issues.

so what axle shafts are you running if you shortened the axle are they custom too? i have never seen anyone do this i just bought another toy project. 88 extracab previously SASed and lifted with an unfinished 3.4 swap

I'm guessing that it is the same length, that they will use the original shafts and just swap sides on them. It should be approximately 180 degrees our from original, so that should work.

if your gonna be doing all that beefing up, i would address the only big issue with the toyota housing, and thats beefing up the supports at the ball ends. nice work none the less.

because there was no need all we were trying to do is save ourselves 700 bucks by building one and doing it this way besides you wont have any problems bending this front end lol
