Nice video. I plan to buy a manual transmission Tacoma within the next 6 to 12 months. I drove a lot of stick-shift vehicles between 1975 and 2003 but haven't owned a manual in 20 years. Really looking forward to it! But, I am not "too proud" to admit that automated rev matching on down-shifts might be a really nice feature. I really like your comments about rev hang -- matches what I had figured out from other channels that if we just shift slowly it should be smooth.

Hey there, thanks so much for watching my review of the Tacoma manual transmission! I'm glad you found my explanation of rev hang helpful. It's definitely something to get used to when switching back to a manual after a long break. I'm sorry to hear you had a tough time negotiating the price at the dealership. The TRD Sport is definitely a popular trim, so it can be harder to get a discount. However, it's always worth trying to negotiate, especially if you're willing to trade in your old vehicle or finance through the dealership. If you have any other questions about the Tacoma or manual transmissions in general, feel free to leave a comment below or reach out to me directly. Thanks again for watching! I hope you enjoy your new TRD Sport!

Thank you for such a clear and detailed manual Tacoma driving review! I daily commute a Mazda6 and would be interested in a manual Tacoma but none can be had within 200 miles of me to even give it a try. A bit frustrating. This reminds me that I didn't purchase a Crosstrek because of bad rev-hang + numb clutch + lack of power, which made it difficult to drive smoothly after years of driving manual. I still really appreciate a quality manual transmission done well in a car/truck and would like to give a Tacoma (TRD off road?) and that IMT feature a fair shot if only it was available. I don't want to have to order just to test-drive one.

ok fine but then why is the rev hanging? back when efi was new they turned off the fuel cut off in the efi but they did this because they didn't understand how to setup their efi maps. driving any car with rev hang isn't the same for me as it used to be. even 'tuning' it out doesn't really get rid of it fully. if you've driven older cars with a manual you'll notice it a lot. kind of defeats the purpose of a manual where you're in control of everything. with rev hang, you're not really in control if you have to wait for the engine tune to do it's thing. rip true manuals
